If you're going to make a film about bad actors putting on a bad production, you've got to be pretty damn confident that your efforts will turn out better than those you're portraying.
Unfortunately, this strange film about an inept theatre troupe is a case of art imitating art, but the cast seem unaware of the irony. All the characters are one-dimensional and the plot goes off on bizarre tangents: romances spring up from nowhere and then are never mentioned again, and one character goes insane for no apparent reason.
The action lurches between scenes of dire comedy of the "if we all wave our arms around and shout loud enough it'll be funny" variety and moments of weird, arty symbolism.
