    Welcome To Movie-Con III

Of all the fascinating things we get to do here at Empire - interview the most amazing filmmakers on the planet, debate the intricacies of Inception a month before anyone else, share an office with ZOO magazine - the Movie-Con weekend has now become our single favourite time on our working calendar.

Why? Well, not to get too sentimental on your collective ass, it's because of you. In just three years you, the Movie-Con massive, have become a firm Empire office favourite. Your enthusiasm, your sense of adventure and your sheer movie nous has made you 500 folk we love to hang out with. Case in point: last year Kathryn Bigelow was here. Six months later, of course, she would go on to win no fewer than six Oscars for the movie she was here to show you, The Hurt Locker. As she came off the stage, your rapturous applause ringing in her ears, she turned to Empire's Damon Wise, who had been compering her onstage Q&A with you. She smiled, overjoyed at how knowledgeable your questions had been. "I know you said these guys would be smart," she said. "But I didn't realise they were going to be that smart!"

So, thank you. Never before has anyone made Chris Hewitt get out of bed on time (apart from Megan Fox, but that's a whole other story), and never before have we at Empire so looked forward to an event.

Again proud to join forces with the mighty BFI Southbank, themselves proud gatekeepers of Britain's film heritage since 1933, we think this year we've delivered another cracking mix of sneak previews, star turns and very special screenings. We hope you had as much fun consuming it as we've had putting it together.

And, now that it's all over, I just wanted to say an almighty thank you to all the filmmakers and distributors who have helped make this weekend happen. Your continued support and enthusiasm is hugely appreciated by everyone here at Empire and the BFI, and we really hope all of you enjoyed the show.
