Empire 25th Anniversary

THE MEGAZINE UNLEASHED

Empire Megazine - Super-sized issue!

THE MEGAZINE
What's more, much more, to celebrate both our glorious 25th Anniversary year and the sheer blockbusting scale of Godzilla we have created a super-sized MEGAZINE edition of Empire.

Available at selected WHSmiths across the country, as well as the biggest 50 HMV stores in the UK.

INSIDE THE ISSUE

GODZILLA - THE WORLD'S FIRST LOOK!
He's big, bad and dangerous to know – and he's coming back to the big screen thanks to monsters director Gareth Edwards. We talked to the cast and crew on set of the enormous disaster movie to get the lowdown on what to expect this time around.

BRYAN CRANSTON
As his role in Godzilla approaches, we talked to the Breaking Bad lead about watching the finale with an enormous audience, his current theatre-imposed vow of silence, and the decision to appear in a different kind of monster movie.

AARON PAUL
The natural sequel to a piece on one Breaking Bad star, as he heads back into movies, is a piece on the other. Aaron Paul talks Need For Speed, tattoos and Steven Spielberg in the story of What Jesse Did Next.

DARREN ARONOFSKY'S NOAH
This month we learn all about Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic, from his old school teacher's cameo appearance to the reasons behind the controversies as the film approaches release.

THE RAID 2
Gareth Evans and Iko Uwais are teaming up once again for another blood-soaked, bone-cracked, bullet-riddled film that shows Hollywood how this action stuff is done. We sent Chris on set in Jakarta to find out what's in store this time...

TERRY GILLIAM
The man who never said die on a project he really cares about takes us on a journey through his imagination and imaginarium, as we walk through his career to date and the stunning visuals that stick in our heads.

MUPPETS MOST WANTED
Once, the Tower of London housed traitors and condemned royals. More recently, it played hosted to the Muppets as they shot their latest epic, which plays out around Europe and as far away as a Siberian gulag. Read on to learn about Miss Piggy's wardrobe and the world's smallest car.

KEVIN SPACEY - THE BIG INTERVIEW
Back on TV in the ace House Of Cards, Kevin Spacey was in genial form when we met him for a career retrospective recently. Read this one to learn about his best impressions, winking at Meryl Streep and working as a door-to-door salesman.

THE GREATEST... GAME CHANGERS
We travelled to exotic, er, Trafalgar Square to see Doug Liman, Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt face an alien invasion in Edge Of Tomorrow, as well as glamorous Rickmansworth for The Quiet Ones and Hackney Wick for The Anomaly. Thankfully, Bad Neighbours took us to Los Angeles, or we'd have frozen to death.

THE MASTER OF DISASTER - IRWIN ALLEN
Forget Roland Emmerich: the original master of disaster is Irwin Allen, who produced films from The Towering Inferno to The Poseidon Adventure to, er, The Swarm. We take a look back through a career that thrived on catastrophe.

ON LOCATION
This month, we risked fiery death to visit the set of Pompeii, where we saw people crushed by statues (but still discussing tennis). Then we braved explosive / bullet-riddled death on set of Sabotage, and the prospect of cross words on Veronica Mars. Daredevils, that's us.

SLATE
Angelina Jolie explains Maleficent, Ben Wheatley shares his plans for sci-fi High-Rise and we look at the biggest movies now in development. We also have one of the all-time great Pint of Milk interviews with Anthony Mackie, so read that if just for his deployment of the phrase "man jungle".

IN CINEMAS
Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel leads our In Cinemas section this month, which sees some prison shenanigans involving Ralph Fiennes, but that's followed up by much more grim prison tales with Starred Up. Look out too for Scarlett Johansson preying on the unwary in Under The Skin and Gilliam weirdness in The Zero Theorem, all rated and reviewed.

RE-VIEW
From the technical razzle-dazzle of Gravity to the technical disasters of This Is Spinal Tap, Re:View runs the gamut this month. We take a look at cartoonist Garry Trudeau's new TV show Alpha House and Final Fantasy XIII, as well as inducting Scream into our Masterpiece selection.
