Crystal Skull Lego
Little bits of plastic in the shape of the fourth Indy film

Lego has already released four sets of the world’s favourite plastic, themed on the original trilogy, and now we see the release of four sets themed to coincide with the new movie. It goes almost without saying that they are artfully and imaginatively constructed, particularly The Temple of the Crystal Skull. But, given that we currently know next to nothing about the finer details of the film, it’s hard to say how closely these sets match the events of the movie. However, there are things that we can deduce from the various sets, through a process of making things up close observation and random guesswork informed analysis. So, the following could contain spoilers, if we are, in fact, psychic.

Jungle Duel
This set comprises a small tent (technically not made of Lego, but we’ll let that go); a weapons holder; a little table; a map; some rather large ants; and possibly the first recorded appearance of Lego food. Indy, Mutt and Irina Spalko included.

What it might teach us:

  • There'll be some kind of swordfight here. There are five weapons all in all, so this could be the location of a significant action sequence. One of the swords is gold. That could have significance or could just mean the factory had gold plastic left over.
  • Those giant ant rumours would seem to be true. The set includes two ants about half the size of the human figures. So, they're not the 'Them!'-sized monsters some predicted, but we should be seeing insects you wouldn't want coming after your jam sandwich.
  • A map is required to find the temple. There's not much discernible on the little square slab, but there's a big 'X' in a mountainous looking region.
  • Someone eats an ostrich. Oh, we're sure part of the food is meant to be a chicken leg, but that's some big ol' chicken.
