Captain Renault (Claude Raines) Casablanca (1941)
"He's quite like Belloq, in the sense that he's a Frenchman who's completely charming and you never quite know what's going on. Sometimes he'll be perfectly nice and then the next minute he's stabbing you in the back. I like that in a villain. I like to be kept guessing about what they're thinking and that they're not just obviously evil. Actually, one thing I liked about Belloq is that he always looked like he'd stepped out of Casablanca. You look at the café scene and I'm dressed exactly like Paul Henreid in Casablanca. I suppose there was some facial resemblance in those days too".
