With the Wii U struggling to rouse excitement amongst gamers obsessed with the explosive delights of Halo 4 and Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, the last thing Nintendo needs is half-baked software cluttering up its launch library. But even though Rabbids Land cockily proclaims itself ‘the perfect party game’, this tedious take on the genre kick-started by Mario Party is by far the worst title on the Japanese behemoth’s underwhelming new gizmo.

Like most Wii U launch titles, Rabbids Land goes hell for leather to experiment with Nintendo’s new hardware, delivering a series of tactile mini-games where the action is split between the TV screen and GamePad, you blow into the microphone to push objects, players tilt the pad to move a boulder around a maze and so on. But while the variety of challenges is good, the games themselves are crushingly dull, with most multiplayer mash-ups boasting all the appeal of the cheap plastic toys found in Asda Smartprice Christmas crackers.

Worst of all, while Rabbids Land supports up to four players, the minigames are all one-on-one challenges, meaning that anyone unfortunate enough to play the game actually spends most of their time, well… not playing the game. And as the majority of the action revolves around rolling dice and moving around the game board at a pace that makes your average glacier look like it’s being steered by Jenson Button, Rabbids Land is an experience that holds zero appeal for either hardcore or casual gamers, and is the one Wii U title above all others to avoid like the plague.
