Final Fantasy X-2 Review

All the character development, compelling plot twists and ground-breaking visuals of the best Hollywood movie.

★★★★★

Aside from Nintendo’s Legend Of Zelda, Final Fantasy is the only console series to prove that — with the right creative team — a video game can have all the complex character development, compelling plot twists and ground-breaking visuals of the best Hollywood movie. Never a developer to disappoint, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy X-2 lives up to the legacy created by its epic predecessors.

Set in the same world as Final Fantasy X — albeit a land transformed by the defeat of the destructive deity, Sin — this expansive role-playing quest follows a group of young heroes as they grow to accept the changing kingdom they live in and deal with the consequences of progress. While the story isn’t as absorbing as the previous adventure and the cheesy soundtrack undermines many of the dramatic set-pieces, Final Fantasy X-2’s high production values and stunning artistry make it one of the most ambitious and cinematic games on any system.
