While Close Combat is set in the near distant future, events within are all too familiar. The game sees old tensions bubbling over in the Middle East and the American military stepping in to take control of the situation.
Drafted and sat in front of a five-minute tutorial video, you're flung head first into the fray with a crack team of marines awaiting your orders - which basically boil down to securing bombed out buildings and killing anything in a turban.
The learning curve is steep but that's what you'd expect from a game that could also serve as a bona-fide USMC training aide. And if you don't feel up to running amok in a pitch-black Beirut, you can always cower behind your men as they do all the dirty work.
