Film synopsis At 10,000ft above sea-level, the vast Atacama Desert offers astronomers a perfect vantage point from which to study the universe. Nearby, however, lie painful reminders of the horrors of Chile's Pinochet regime; from the remains of a 19th century slave mining camp to bone fragments of Pinochet's victims. Director and writer Patricio Guzmán beautifully and poignantly entwines these two themes, offering his audience a meditation on history, knowledge and mortality.
