Film synopsis After World War II, Freddie Quell (Phoenix) is discharged from the navy and finds it hard to adjust to civilian life, becoming a rootless, drunk drifter. A chance meeting with Lancaster Dodd (Hoffman), leader of a new cult called The Cause, offers him an opportunity to change.

Given that his last film was a stone cold masterpiece for me I’m rather excited to see this! PTA has also just screened it for his old chum and casual Scientologist Tom Cruise. The Cruiser say... “I have issues with some parts of the movie” Now that’s fair enough if it’s a negative examination on the guys faith, personal “issues” would be understandable. But I just hope that PTA doesn’t amend his film in any way to please others, who might otherwise take offense. He’s far too good a  More
