RE: AVATAR
L: adambatman82 L: pete_traynor It's not only because he shot it in 3D. I think this new fusion system and its ability to display rendered characters and environments instantly on set is game changing from a directing standpoint. The potential for film makers to more efficiently realise their worlds just got a hell of a lot easier. And that applies to 2D as well! I think it's more suited to visionary sorts who think on a somewhat grand scale. So it's no wonder Tarantino doesn't qui... Read More

RE: AVATAR
By sheer coincidence Quentin Tarantino spoke of the "gamechanging" aspect of Avatar at the "Directors on Directors" conference this past week. Basically when the guy asking the question refers to Avatar as a "gamechanger" Tarantino replies with "Why, because he did it in 3D?!" and its pretty hilarious. www.youtube.com/watch?v=35w50mPBEek&feature=player_embe dded ... Read More

RE: AVATAR
the only "game changing" part of Avatar is the first 10-15 minutes, simply stunning, and a reminder of what James Cameron can do (or could do...) before it becomes all soppy and bogged down with the blue cat people the final battle at the end is pretty awesome, but again the cat people interfere with the sheer awesomeness of this battle I've just watched the beginning again, at home today, and was so amped...shame the rest of the film does not meet the quality of the start (I've seen ... Read More

L: Rgirvan44 ame changer do you mean every film is now going3D? Cause I'm not sure how I feel about cinemas putting up their prices by 3 or 4 quid. I'm not sure why anyone would be happy about that, apart from the money men. hats what he seems to be implying. When I left the cinema after Avatar my first thought was "if thats the future then I'm really not interested". It was good for spectacle (as certain sections of cinema always will be), but to imply that the be all and end all... Read More

RE: AVATAR
L: spark1 its a great, game changer of a movie and it deserves any award it gets. shame zoe and the other na'vi actors were robbed of nominations cos of the 'golum ' rule-if it its fantasy and motion capture then its not 'real' acting. orry, but how was this a gamechanger? What game did it change? I see this hyperbolic, meaningless garbage pop up in every defense of this film, yet nobody ever goes beyond that and actually explains what it is they're actually going on about. ... Read More
