Yes its a video game movie, but giving the story, the director and producers this could even be an academy award winner, especially with Peter Jackson producing, so dont judge it till you see it.

George Lucas said the studios were getting twitchy about big budget movies and he was not wrong.After this years really poor crop of box office films I can understand it.Disappointed!!!!!But the promise of major talent doing a superb sci-fi film is now blown.Better now than later when the accountants and execs panic and go for the safety net with the result that another dud comes mutilated to the big screens.Still, I'm going with George.TV is now taking all the risks and producing some of the best stories and series I've seen.Galactica season 3 anyone???Lost????.24???.Truth is with HD coming soon and all those TV channels waiting to be filled, the talent has migrated to a medium where quality effects and descent scripts are now becoming better than the big screen.Perhaps Peter and microsoft will eventually take that path.

While Microsoft could stump up the cash, and i'm sure the thought's crossed their mind the issue is distrubution you need someone to actually distribute the film to cinemas and that's probably more hassle than its worth for a single movie, no matter how cool it could look seeing the Chief on screen.

You'd think with Microsoft banging on about how important the property was to them and how it had to be made right they'd be willing to wade in to make sure it goes through.
As long as the next thing Peter Jackson goes on to do is 'The Hobbit' I won't mind that much.

And they'll always be video game movies clouting about as long as there will be video games and if theres some entertaining material Hollywood will option it. One of these days tho we will get a video game movie of such astounding quality that we'll alll pass out in astonishment. I was really hoping (and still am) that this would be the Halo movie, but for every one, theres fifty rather crappy adaptions, noone ever says we should cut down on all these book adaptions do they? As soon as we get a few succesful adaps people's tune will change. We'll be in for a long wait with Uwe Boll around tho.

With Halo 3 coming out very soon, the movie could always be labelled as a simple repeat of of the events in the first game, and if there was a sequel the second as well. With Bungie saying this will be the final game in the story arch of Halo, it means the films could be scripted with a view to a trilogy entirely, where they could take certain pieces from each game and work on the story and character archs in each potential movie and work and develop a better cinematic take, rather than simply relying on the popularity of the games to sell it, As soon as the Halo 3 is out they can really concentrate on making the movies movies rather than poor script to screen video game adaps of everything we've seen in cutscenes. And I bet that as soon as Halo 3 sells bucketloads (and it will) studios will be knocking on Bungies door once again.

What the fuck, I mean a new Street Fighter, there was mortal kombat 1 and 2 fucking resident evil 1/2 and its got number 3 and also doom. Lets face it they have all been shit, then there was dead or alive so why the fuck cant they make halo or even a metal gear solid? I mean why continue to make shit and cancel out the good stuff?

Lets get this straight, Fox turned down an Alien 5 treatment by James Cameron (which Ridley Scott was interested in directing) because they wanted to make AVP. Now Fox have turned down Peter Jackson and his teams' take on Halo........ but they're still stumping up the readies for AVP2!!! Numpties

What is going on with top movie top brass, what more do they want - Peter Jackoson and one of the best game stories to date, I think they should stop sniffing glue and giving the green light to films like Street fighter, Mortal Kombat and Doom - go outside there toxic fume infested offices, get some fresh air, clear there heads and get in touch with the world.

I think maybe if Jackson had decided to direct the movie himself, a) we would be seeing it very soon and b) it might have a chance of being an ok film, rather than a shit one, that all game movies are

This film has to be made and has to be created by peter and fran. Halo is a massive franchise but it does have a clever back story and has amazing potential for cinematic awesomeness!!! But it must be done right and at the right time, not a rushed fooked up effort like Doom which was pathetic and a disgrace to a fantastic game.
