Hmm, not sure about this.  It had flashes of Darkplace wit (the wasps in the cockpit) but I fear it will grow old fast.

it was ok, i can see what they were trying to do with the chessey talk show format ect.. but the wasp bit was the best part and that was basically Darkplace.

Canned laughter was too fucking loud as well, I imagine a lot of people who watched it thinking 'what the fuck is this?', its very niche, more like a dvd extra than a stand alone series.

I thought it was ok. I smiled & laughed a few times. Obviously the wasps bit was the best. I will probably watch it next week.

My Name is Earl is a truely funny show, one of the only good things from America or England nowadays.
God i wanted to love this, had the audience laughed at the 'jokes' rather than both 'jokes' and jokes, it would have been a brilliant spoof, but sadly, it doesn't work with a real audience. A shame, some of the material was top notch.
Love the whole Odeon in Romford joke, it's interesting to see Romford always being a piece of shit, in real life and TV, :D

Ah well, i still have the Darkplace DVD, provides enough entertainment for 2:30 hours, then replay it...

Turned it off after 5 minutes. Do we really need another spoof chat show? Especially one as derivative as this.

I thought it was class, myself.

'You've just earned yourself a third correct' - what a line!

'Good luck with your exhibit'   'Don't need it'

Why is it one at 11.05?  I'd take this any day over smug garbage like Green Wing or 8 out of 10 Cats.

It was ok, but as an idea it's a bit stretched.

As much as I love Ayoade and Dean Learner, I'm not sure he could carry this on his own.

But I must admit the wasps bit was top class!

The second episode was a vast improvement.  I was roaring laughter all the way through, and that's very very hard to make me do.

Steve Pising:  "It would be nice to continue the Pising name.  I would've liked my wife to take my name as her middle name but it wouldn't have worked out.  Her last name's 'Blood'."

I forgot it too! Was it advertised during the week? Or are C4 already trying to bury it?

The sections of the programme that aren't at Deano's mansionette are far more entertaining that the interview sections, which seem rather forced, especially Dean's rant which was quite funny last week - the bit about the queue for toilets at parties - but this week was rather dull.  Darkplace got the balance right, having the interviews be the cutaways and focusing on a more driven and interesting section for the bulk of the running time...

Is it actually always Mathew Holness as the guest?

I missed it this week as well.

Aw, did no one else watch this this week?

I really enjoyed it. Always surprises me what a musical gift Matt Holness has got. He really can play that guitar!

And Dean Learner came out with some classic lines, such as "I know a lot about pleasurable releases".

I'm very disapointed with it. They should have just made a second series of Darkplace, which is brilliant. I heard C4 wouldn't commision a second series, let's hope now that the DVD is selling well they will realise they were wrong!

Richard Ayoade is good in Darkplace, but I can't help but feel he is trying to do an 'Alan Partridge' which can never be bettered in my opinion.

I think it's hilarious, not quite as funny as Darkplace but still very good. I also think it shows how talented Matthew Holness is, playing a different character each week.

I agree with you Mr E.

The show really is all about Matthew Holness, not Richard Ayoade. Considering that the only thing I'd seen Holness in previously was Garth Marenghi, it's great to see him play other characters.

OK, so I may be the only one watching this still, but I thought this week's was hilarious! Matt Holness's psychic was so convincingly bad that I kind of forgot it was Holness playing him.

The bit where he was in the bath calling the viewer to get closer and closer had me in stitches.

I too am impressed. I've always seen Holness play characters using the same voice, but a few of the characters on MTMWDL allow him more range, he's a better actor than I originally thought.

This series started off okay and is now really quite bad, it has the occasional moment, but nothing has matched the sheer joy of 'War of the Wasps' from episode one, and not a beat of it is as entertaining as 'Darkplace'... I don't know if I'd want to see another series of 'Darkplace' though, in case it was rubbish... a 'Darkplace' movie, maybe?

A darkplace movie has been commissioned and is pre-production.

The show has been pushed back to 23.55 tonight. Looks like they are marketing it at the insominacs again.

Surely they could have kept it at the same time and put Blunder on in its place next week instead?

Typical Channel 4, they wouldn't commission a second series of Darkplace because of  'the cost' and then spend God knows how much paying for Russell Brand to have his own show.

Well half way through 'Blunder' and it's shocking that 'Man to Man' gets pushed back to make way for this and that c**t-otter Russel Brand.  At least 'Man to Man' strives for something more than a desperate parade of wannabe catchphrases and awful crude punchlines, not even good crude punchlines dammnit... and the less I say about my feelings regarding the over-rated, over-hyped, rip-off-artiste that is Brand the better.
