Really pleased for Torres (especially given his comments about not feeling part of the Champion's League winning side) and probably more so for Ivanovic given how the news he wouldn't be playing in the final last year was broken to him.

And Chelsea will probably sell him in the summer...

Yes we may very well sell him. Though if his goal tally keeps going up by eleven we might want to hang on to him and his 33 goals next season.

Erm...not sure! Was thinking of going back to Spinal Tap after this year's CL final but if this is Frank's last trophy with us (looks as if he is staying), then I will!

How did Ba get a medal? Mind, at least he showed a bit more class than Terry by wearing a suit.
Must say though, despite the fact that I'm never pleased to see another team win something, I can't help but admire Lampard - what a pro. And a fantastic player to boot.

Well done to Chelsea.

Regarding the image above, did those two defenders cook him breakfast and bring him his slippers in the morning. I can't believe how well they've looked after him there.

That's how I feel... also Benitez is a friggin fruit-job.

Rafa is saying that you will splash a hundred million on 3 or 4 summer signings. Exciting times, huh?

I expect that is the clearest indication to date that Mourinho will be going back there.

Its a shame that Chelsea / Abramovich were not able to pick a manager and stick with him for longer than a few months in the intervening period. Because the fact that Mourinho is one of the best managers out there, doesn't necessarily make him one of the best options for Chelsea imo. I just can't see what has changed since he was last there and think that both he and Abramovich are unlikely to move too far to accommodate each other over time.

The leaks were that Abramovich didn't like Mourinho's style of football. Now, Chelsea seem reasonably settled with 3 attacking players off the front man, but is Mourinho really going to go attack attack attack every game? I know that Real had some big wins, but the gap in standard between Real and some of the other teams in la liga can be stark.

Then there were the players that Abramovich bought that Jose didn't want. Is the owner really going to stop tinkering? I don't see that.

So, I can see that some small moves could be made on each side. I could imagine that Chelsea will be a threat next season. But if we go longer than 2 or 3 seasons without another fall out I'll be amazed.

He'll be a bit-part player from next season I reckon in the mould of Giggs and Scholes have been at Utd, but its only fair to reward him with a contract update.

Can still see him starting between 10-15 league games and scoring a fair few times when coming off the bench. Lampard still has big part to play at Chelsea unlike that waste of space Terry.

So what do Chelsea fans think of Benitez now?

He won the Europa League
Finished in 3rd after you were 6th last season (11 more points)
Managed to slip Terry out of the first XI without any fuss
Kept everyone happy by the looks of it

I've already had my say about Rafa a couple of pages ago.

End of season tour against Manchester City, 3-0 up 61st minute. Cech taken off, we lose 3-4…Ruben Loftus-Cheek got a run out though.

I love Cech (well the one before the head injury, then again from the latter half of last season), but I really hope that if not next season then the one after Courtois gets his chance. He's looked fantastic at times this season for Atletico.

I too hope Courtois eventually plays for us along with half a dozen or so other loaned out players. We put him at £20 million and gave him a contract until 2016...but Cech signed his new contract until 2016. Unless Cech is injured or has a massive drop in form (not just the occasional blip) I can’t see his position being usurped anytime soon.

I've never seen Courtois have a bad game yet, I'd have him ahead of Cech right now. I think he'll stay on loan for another year yet however.

So Chelsea have signed Andrea Schurrle to sit on the bench for a few seasons. Will he sit next to Marko Marin and Lukaku?

You can't lump Marin and Lukaku together in the context of Chelsea. I very much think that Lukaku has a strong future at Chelsea, he is just out on loan to build experience. Whereas Chelsea coaches seem to have taken one look at Marin and decided they bought a lemon. And when I saw him play they seemed right. Maybe he is on silly wages, if not I'd be at least looking at a loan offer if I was manager of a team based around technical skills like Swansea or maybe Villa.

I cant' wait for Jose to join. I think this is going to be a complete car crash

Marin was a highly rated player when he went to Chelsea, he's been capped several times by Germany. He only played a handful of games and was hardly given a chance. How many games is Schurrle going to seriously play? He's always going to be beyond, Mata, Oscar, Hazard so at best he's fourth choice.

Lukaku only made 12 appearances for Chelsea. And with them looking to sign a big big name striker he's again going to be down the pecking order. He doesn't strike me as a player who wants to sit on the bench, especially with Belgium going to the world cup seemingly likely and he's fighting with Benteke for their first choice striker role. For him to sit on the bench all season at Chelsea is exactly what his career doesn't need right now.

And what about De Bruyne? He's going out on loan to Bayer Leverkusen, will he ever make an appearance for Chelsea?

It's an increasingly big point that the bigger clubs are sucking up talent to too great an extent if you ask me. While they aren't world beaters, the likes of Moses, Marin and at city you've got Rodwell, Sinclair who aren't all top players but it weakens the mid level clubs and weakens the whole league as a result.

Rant over.

I think I've said numerous times in this thread that Chelsea's attitude to their young players is something that really pisses me off.

Out on loan last season were:
- Courtois (21) : As others have said on this forum, one of the best 'keepers in Europe right now
- De Bruyne (21) : Bought in for 7M in Jan 2012, now out on loan again (as you say) as part of the deal to bring in Schuerrle
Lukaku (20) : IMHO brilliantly managed last season at WBA and looks like Drogba Mk2
McEachran (2) : So much hype, so few appearances
Kakuta (21) : Been loaned to more clubs than I've had hot dinners
Piazon (20) : Looked like he had some really good movement in the couple of times I saw him last season
van Aanholt (22) : Loaned out to more clubs than Kakuta

I think there is a fine line between development via loan and just bought up with no idea of how they will fit in the team (I often suspect only to stop rivals getting them).

What worries me now (in terms of youth at Chelsea) is that Chelsea and Jose together, these two entitiies are not likely to be looking at the long term. So Jose is not really interested in developing talent that will be useful in 3 years time. So we are less likely to see some of these players around the Chelsea squad, making substitute appearances, playing in the domestic cups, etc. As we are for Jose to spend xM on more established older players.

There's also Romeu, who I think looks a really good player. He's not very old but rarely gets a game. Also Matic who you sold to Benfica after coming on twice in 2 years. Now he looks a really good player and big clubs are after him. Crazy, crazy policies.
