Torres' performances have seen off a few managers now!

I don't think an underperforming player has ever got as much support as Torres has got from Chelsea fans. In recent weeks it's slowly started to change from what I've heard.

I think all of the above makes me an ideal candidate to take several million of your ill-gotten gains for a few months work. I do have a current job, but I don't work Saturdays, so I think I can job share during my month's notice. I am also usually free on Thursday evenings.

Got to say I'm really surprised by the timing of it all. But I never thought RDM was that good - he chanced the CL win and the league performances last year weren't good enough. This season getting knocked out of the CL group stages is a killer for their finances. They only recorded a profit because of the CL win and because the transfers of Oscar, Moses and Hazard weren't included. The transfers of Cahill and Mata were, but incoming fees can be counted over the length of a contract while sales can be banked immediately according to Fifa's accounting rules.

Anyway, I reckon Benitez might do ok. He'll shore up your defence and if anyone can get Torres scoring it's him. I'd be surprised if he stuck with Oscar, Mata and Hazard all at once, but then it would probably be stupid to keep them all in the first XI anyway.

 Decent appointment, although certainly not one to capture the imagination. Difficult to assess his stint at Inter fairly as he was punted far too early.

He's good for snookers in Europe, which naturally Chelsea need in order to stay in the Champions League.

Good point - although given Chelsea only have one natural out & out striker, this might not be such a bad move.

I find it fascinating that RA is so determined to get his £50m white elephant scoring goals that he sacks the guy who got him the prize he most valued, presumably just to bring in the guy who managed to get a decent season out of Torres. The club really is a plaything to him

 Now that the hullabaloo has ebbed slightly, I don't think that Chelsea are out of the CL yet.

Yes, it is out of their hands, but I really don't think it is beyond the realms of possibility that Juve will travel to Shakhtar and lose. I know that a cosy draw would suit both teams. And it is true that there are good teams through in both first and second positions, but I think there is a slight advantage to topping the group. I don't think that Shakhtar can afford not to try to score, in case Juve pop up with a late goal, and it doesn't really seem in their psyche to shut up shop.

Clearly such a result would justify Abramovich's decision to replace RDM (at least in RM's own head). But I just don't think this one is over yet.
