Was a bit (very) pissed last night whilst watching MotD so I can only recall the goal! A mate was saying there was some awful diving and a horror tackle from Luiz?

Nice to see Lukaku on score sheet. Good thing we're blessed with prolific strikers...

To be fair I've heard that isn't the strongest squad Wolves could have put out?

Excellent performance against Arsenal, I thought they'd beat you today due to the open nature of the new Chelsea but you kept things pretty tight. I was really impressed with Oscar he absolutely worked his bollocks off in a match where there wasn't much space. 16 points out of 18 - not a bad start at all

I thought it was a solid, enjoyable performance and with our 'best' 11 bar Obi (and maybe Luiz/Terry?...), shame Torres couldn't finish a few of his earlier chances we could easily have been 3 up before Arsenal equalised for 1-1. Impressed again by Hazard, Oscar looks class (though he got a bit touchy on occasion) and Cech was mostly superb.

I know defending Ashley Cole is basically the ultimate game of devil's advocate, but I don't see the fuss - if he feels the FA are calling him out as a liar, then his response isn't really unreasonable? Besides its not an unaccurate description of the FA either is it?

Would be kind of funny if they hand him a big fine and a ban, followed by Ashley doing a JT and retiring. Only the FA could formulate such a foolproof plan to alienate the best English player of his generation.

Is it too early to start talk of winning the Premiership? I'm very impressed in how quickly the new players are shining in the team.

Can't take anything away from Roberto. But if Abramovich gets his way and Pep comes in next season, Chelsea could be looking at a very bright future.

But lets be honest here Chelsea's run,other than the Arsenal game,has been easy to say the least.
Wigan (A),Reading(H),Newcastle(H),QPR(A),Stoke(H),Arsenal(A),Norwhich(H),they are playing well but I think they will eventually hit a brick wall.

Beating Norwich isn't really the mark of champions since Norwich are pretty much destined to get relegated this season. But Chelsea have been by far the best team in the league this season, if United/City continue with their present mediocrity then there's no real contest for the title. Still surreal to think that RDM got sacked by West Brom only to get Chelsea playing better than they have in years.

To be fair RDM did ok with West Brom and at the time he was getting many plaudits for the style in which the Baggies were playing,unfortunately they were just dropping points.

I will give United the benefit of the doubt at the moment mainly down to the fact that at the start of the campaign they didn't really have a settled back-four,something of which you can argue about now even.
There second-half performance against Spurs was really encouraging but the flip side of that is the pedestrian first half showing.
Also ,something people have failed to acknowledge, is the fact Man United do actually have a very youthful squad the average age is only brought down by Giggs (38) and Schole(36).
For me Man United look like a top 3 team but not champions,I think Arsenal have a better hope in securing the title ahead of the Mancs.

I thought Chelsea would struggle both defensively and putting the ball in the net. I actually think City had a better squad last year than they do now,so in some sense I can see where Mancini is coming from.

I don't think they sold any particularly important first-team players either, Garcia is an improvement on De Jong and Johnson/Adebayor weren't really regular starters anyway.

(speaking of which, the �80m spent by Chelsea this summer has definitely improved their title chances. I have no idea how much money one gets for winning CL though so it could somehow be within FFP rules, maybe.)

Agree about CIty.

I think Chelsea are just relying on handing in a mess of accounting about training facilities, etc that UEFA won't want to unpick. That and the belief that they won't want to kick a recent tournament winner out of the game.

I heard when Barca won the CL a few years back they got 107 Mill Euro's (my cheap keyboard doesn't have a Euro sign lol!) and Man U got about 70 Mill Euro's. Chelsea must've got the same or slightly more winning it last year I'd assume. Of course most of that is from the sponsors and I'm sure your data is quite correct from UEFA's payout structure.

I think for me, some people over-stated how difficult that game should have been for Chelsea. Yes, Spurs had won 4 on th trot, but they were Reading, QPR and Villa. The one everyone is remembering is Utd, but as AVB himself said they had nothing to lose there.

I also didn't see much in the JT case that was going to affect them. And with Dembele and Bale off the pitch Spurs were missing a couple of their best players.

So, no surprise to me that Chelsea bested Spurs at WHL. What did surprise me is just how fluently the team played. Mata really has them ticking so well.

Next weekend will be a test. There is good time between Tuesday and Sunday, but the Ukraine is also some distance to go. IMO Ferguson has to go for it as a loss would leave him 7 points behind, this could leave enough space for the blues to really look classy.
