Sorry, Mason, but utter shit. Complete typical BBC sitcom utterly, absolutely, unspeakably unfunny, made more offensive by the inlcusion of a great title song by the Master himself and patronisingly un-American America.

Much as I am sure it is probably a bit rubbish, it does have an impressive team behind it. Lee Mack is a good stand-up, and so is Tim Vine. And it seems crazy but am I right in thinking that it is Andrew Collins as in the film reviewer (for the Radio Times at the moment, but also brilliantly stood in for Mark Kermode over the summer)? If so, it really is a small world!

I like it! I laughed my head off at the one tonight. It is a bit predictable but it made me laugh - Lee Mack is funny.

It is the standard beeb shit-com but I did find some amusing stuff in there.  Terrible casting though, and what's with the token American?  Gee, maybe it'll help the beeb sell it to the yanks easier...

It's not going to go down as one of the best sitcoms, but it does have some good lines in it. Predictable jokes maybe, but funny.

I've only caught a couple of episodes but I actually quite liked it! Ok so the American woman is irritating and not particularly funny, and some of the jokes are predictable or fall completely flat... but the gag rate is so high and I find just enough of them work so that you sort of get carried along with it. There have been far worse 'comedies'!

This has the legend that is Tim Vine in the cast, an expert at gag delivery, plus its co-written by onetime Empire mag editor & all round good egg Andrew Collins, but its not brilliant. Main problem is its too much com not enough sit. Just stand up routines linked together with slim plots. Still, has some good gags & gives Tim Vine much-deserved screentime!
Love the fact that Lee & Timís characters are called Lee & Tim.

It's not greatl, but it's not bad. Better than My Family and kicks the crap out of Green Grass of home or whatever the only fools and horses spin off is called. Does the same to My Hero and just about every other recently made sitcom

Series one found its feet surprisingly quickly, thanks largely to the affability and easy charm of it star (and co-writer, with RT film editor Andrew Collins) Lee Mack. All right, so waiting for the jokes was sometimes like watching for a bus coming over a hill (you knew it was on its way, you scanned the horizon and you were very pleased when it arrived). But there were plenty of laughs from Lee, a hopeless, essentially good-natured layabout, and his mates. DVDs weren't available as we went to press, so here's hoping Not Going Out has lost none of its zest.

I don't think that God posts on these forums.

The second series definitely seems to be worse than the first even with additional cast members and a bigger role for Tim vine who is far better than the material on show provides.  He appears to be playing the straight man here.

Terrible! I expected something passable but the writing was godawful. The cast are game and struggle to inject procedings with some of their stand up zip but it hangs limply on the screen like wet lettuce. The best thing about it is the title, which reminds me that I should be doing something better on a Friday night.
