looks like some real progress going on here! THERE ARE CARS BEING MADE!

I know it's wishful thinking but how cool would it be if Mel actually surprised us all and returned as Max?!

Frakking awesome!

But do remember that cars and props were constructed before the film fell through in 2003 - this just might be warehouse stuff.

According to Sky News, Miller has confirmed shooting starts in Silverton, same place as the Road Warrior was shot, next year.

Needs Mel Gibson...it is Mad Max afterall and he is Max. Plus an older, grizzled and quite possibly batshit insane Max would be a blast to watch.

Fox News, sorry I meant Sky News, isn't always reliable.

I am not sure, I mean what suggest this won't be another Thunderdomic mess for families, and the feeling feels worse now that this guy has recently made one of the most annoying tweeny family films I've seen recently.

Have faith, Babe 2 was probably the darkest kids movie I've seen in a long while.

Miller's unpredictable, in a good way.

Don't remind me of Babe 2.  It shatters the wonderful memories I have of the first one. And him making films like Lorenzo's Oil doesn't help.

Lorenzo's Oil was brilliant!

Miller's is an underrated talent.

It's his first two Mad Max films I really love and for that I respect him. But the way he led his career after those is disappointing.

Witches of Eastwick was interesting and Lorenzo's Oil was fascinating (you can tell he brought in his medical background on that film).

I can't comment for Witches of Eastwick since I haven't seen it. But I remember Lorenzo's OIl being dull and at times mawkish.

Be honest bill - are you really excited or even slightly interested? I mean.... MEL IS MAX. Just as Sly is Rocky and Harrison is Indy. I'm so effed-off that Gibson didn't just go ahead and team up with George Miller for one final ride as The Road Warrior.
ah what the hell... NOTHING will ever top MAD MAX 2.

If it's not Mel, it doesnt NEED to be Mad Max. I mean the franchise is so freaking old now all the kids who'll end up seeing it (as it will definitely be PG 13) won't have seen the other movies anyway. It might as well just be a post apocalyptic movie and change the character name.

I agree with Snake, Mel IS that role. It's his most defining character IMO, more so than Riggs.

i think it'll be good, a mad max movie made properly to wipe away the memory of thunderdome. looking forward to it. And mel not being max? 10/15 years ago i'd have been gutted, now not so much! max needs some fresh blood, like bond needed it, like batman needed it and like a lot of other franchises need. Tom Hardy is a decent actor and everything he's talked about in relation to the character so far has been spot on. I'll wait to see it before passing judgement.

Mad Max without Mel isn't Mad Max.
Hardy is a decent actor, but in comparison to a young Gibson??
I'll keep the memories and skip this one.

Without Mel? Shot with computer generated effects? Some bloke called Tom as 'Max' accompanied by nice eye-candy-esque Miss Theron to satisfy the horny teenage audience? Nah, no thanks.
