Sin City Positives 1. Very cool cinematography. I was truly impressed with the way this film becomes a visual treat. The colors or lack thereof, the textures all of it make the violence look even cooler. 2. Great stories between the characters. Great acting from an amazing cast, everyone is great. 3. The treat and surprise to see Carla Gugino topless, Ive always liked her. 4. Jessica Alba is a visual treat, no matter what color she is shot in. 5. This film had my attention from the first 2 minutes to the very last. 6. The violence is shot so cool, the severing of limbs never looked better. While still graphic it is totally tolerable for those who hate gore. 7. Great feeling that you are watching a graphic novel , with the characters talking to themselves and unreal action sequences. 8. Elijah Wood was a madman! Negatives 1. If you step away for a minute, you'll probably miss something cool. 2. This is a Guy-Flick in every sense of the word, even the female cast is tantalizing but dangerous and as tough as the men....what im trying to say is that your female companion will probably dislike it. 3. The assholes who will bash this film for being too voilent and masochistic...here is an excerpt from a negative review I read somewhere else: "I spent a good part of the film staring at the floor to avoid the gruesome and inhumane depictions of the human race at it's most horrific state. This world does not need to see that kind of violence. At one point, when yet ANOTHER person had a bullet blasted through their skull, the guy behind me said, "That's f***ing awesome!" Well, how "f***ing awesome" would it be if that man with a bullet lodged in his brain were his father - or, bringing it to real life - one of the soldiers that we've lost in Iraq thus far. I just don't understand how such gruesome and glorified violence is entertaining. It's one thing to have a wrench thrown at you to train for dodgeball and have that be funny, but watching a man graphically whip a woman he is about to rape and be told that THAT should be funny to me? I'm sorry - I think things like that are very real, happen every day, and I'm thinking they aren't so funny to the woman who has been violated."....... *Give me a break already, its a movie....from the mind of the twisted yet genius Robert Rodriguez and Special Guest Director- Quentin Tarantino and Frank Millers imagination....Everyone knows- Violence is their Signature. What in the living fuck was this person expecting out of a movie called Sin City??!! Perhaps you went to the wrong film you stupid asshole! The film wasnt called Vatican City!! My Final Verdict .......5/5..... Im no fan of black and white films and while this isnt shot entirely in black and white, it comes close. But it had my attention. Im scoring this film so high because honestly , ive never seen anything like it, it was like watching a comic book come to life. Violence happens all around us, and its all too real. Its nice to watch actors get killed and then listen to commentaries about them making the film.....to remind us that, Its only a movie. Call me an immature male for liking this film, thats cool, but im also that immature guy that holds the door open for you, helps your elderly parents cross the street, assists people in wheelchairs and helps the less fortunate. Some of us are just closer to violent images because maybe we all dont come from loving homes.
