my verdict on the ps3 so far is that it is very easy to install and get playing. it is not as noisy as the xbox 360 and the power unit is inside the console, not a huge seperate unit like the 360. visually the games are impressive, but not much of an improvement on the 360 games graphically. the sound is immense! and the blu ray dvd playback is awesome. i have played the formula one game (7/10) motorstorm (8/10) and resistance (also 8/10) but i have yet to really delve into the games properly. the blu ray dvd i got was xmen 3 and it is incredible (10/10)

at the moment, i would say 360. but i'll re-evaluate that after more hours gameplay
i am going into town to change formula one for either genji or call of duty 3
Home is a bit confuddled compared to the xbox dashboard

You've had it a whole of 10 minutes, it's a bit too early to be giving reviews of games and films on it don't you think?

The games visually aren't an improvement on the 360 as has already been said, they may be 6 or 12 months down the line, but for now they're inferior because developers havn't had enough time to get used to programming for the PS3.

But Home isn't the equivillent of the Dashboard.... The PSP style menu is. Is Home even active yet?

Can't believe you're trading a game in already, Formula 1 is the only game on the PS3 that I would like to play, Motorstorm just looks like Smuggler's Run or one of the other countless Off Road games, and haven't seen enough of Resistance to make a decision yet.

Have any of the games you've got implemented the Six Axis tilt sensors at all?

i'm sorry! Rob asked if it was any good so i thought he might like an answer from someone who actually has a ps3, regardless of how long i've had it.

and, considering it is launch day today, how long am i supposed to have been playing it.

I thought that was my point, it's launch day, it's a bit too early to be giving games review ratings as opposed to first impressions.

But don't listen to me I give games scores before they're even out

i wasn't given much of a choice when it came to the formula one game, and as i prefer the more fun element of motorstorm, i am tempted to trade it for a different style of game altogether!

I don't trust anyone who gives X-Men 3 10/10. Surely there must be one good film atleast available on Blu-Ray, amidst all your Van Helsings and Swats. I'm sure I saw Unforgiven in a shop, or is that HD-DVD.

Anybody bought the new Edge? That quirky game being developed in Guildford looks promising. As far as I can see Virtua Fighter 5 is the only game worth owning, and the Motorstorm review has turned me.

Give it until Christmas though, Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the draw for me to purchase the console.

Well actually you said "my verdict"... You never mentioned it being first impressions. But I thought my last comment about reviewing games proved I wasn't being serious so lets not carry on this arguement.

I was just shocked you're already trading a game in, especially after giving it a 7/10 rating

Anyway... back to my other post...

Is Home active yet? And have you got any game that use the tilt sensors in the Six Axis?

Or, you could spend a good �200 less (�450 less if you already have a 360) and get it on the Xbox 360, it's almost certain it'll be out on both platforms.

i think formula one is worthy of a 7/10 based on around an hour of gaming
but i prefer the fun element of motorstorm, it is more instantly gratifying i guess

but i'd like to have 3 completely different games, hence my decision to trade one of the racing games.

as for any games that properly utilise the new controller, no, not really, of the 3 i have played none really take advantage of it.

I've currently been working my way through all the GTA games again and then I'll be moving onto Timesplitters 1 and 2, possibly 3 aswell although truth be told I didn't like 3 all that much.

I was passing through Belfast last night at about 10:30 and there was a "crowd" of about ten people outside Game, a fraction of the crowd that was there for the 360 launch. Every webstore I've had a look at has PS3s in stock. Sony will probably still call the launch a success but secretly be rather fecked off. Same goes for the Ebay resellers.

I'm not saying this 'cos I'm anti-PS3 or owt, to the contrary I'd have brought that crowd up to eleven (maybe 12 - I'm a fat bastard) if I hadn't me holibobs to pay for. I'll be snagging me a PS3 after my trip - and it doesn't look like I'll have much trouble finding one!

The single player on 3 was certainly lacking compared to 2 but I'm still hoping they make it backwards compatible on the 360 at some point as it totally rocked on live.
