demand is quite high where i live
the 4 stores that will be selling the ps3 all have 40+ pre orders and i can't see them all getting that many consoles?

 I was at Empire's evening with Edgar Wright this Friday.  It was sponsored by Playstation and we got to play on the PS3 during the breaks.  Good stuff, I wish I could afford one   Resistence was a brilliant game!

Where did you get these 40+ figures in each store from? 

Your local shops must be a one off, I don't know anywhere that's not still desperate to take pre-orders. And I'm sure a lot of these shops have websites like Game, Gamestation etc, which also don't have many pre-orders so they're shifting a lot of the online stock to the shops.

i am nosey, so i went and asked and my local game have near on 60 pre-orders, gamestation have around 50 and whsmiths and woolies both have around 40 so i am told.
i asked as i missed out on the first round of xbox 360's and i did not want the same to happen again with the ps3.

 The Game and Gamestation closest to me both have a load of PS3's that have yet to be pre-ordered. Hell even the indy store in my town has 2 left and he only got an allocation of 5. Two generations of goodwill pissed out the window with ridiculous pricing and shoddy treatment of it's target audience. Well done Sony.

I'm slightly annoyed actually, my brother had one pre-ordered and has since decided that £425 is some what taking the piss so he's letting a mate have his place in the pre-order queue so as not to waste his £50 deposit.

Selfish bastard, I really wanted a go on Resistance as well!

Haven't seen any poster or magazine ads either.

Same here. The two GameStation and GAME stores next to me have had a board outside saying how many pre order spots they have left. Two weeks ago they both said 19. When I went by the other day the one by GAME had 17 left and GameStation said 15

There goes sony stealing microsoft's ideas......pikeys.

All these pre-order numbers above, ranging between 40 - 60 pre-orders a store. Are these confirmed release date pre-orders that will be fulfilled? Or just stores taking as many pre-orders and hoping and praying they all turn up.

The store I work in has gauranteed 11 coming in this week. For the first 11 pre-ordered.

I think the concept of an entertainment hub that can be used for 10 or so years is brilliant, and it probably would be a good investment in the long run, but I'm just not impressed at all with PS3. Some of the biggest games, such as GTA IV and Devil May Cry IV, will be available on other consoles; the graphics are pristine but the difference between PS3 and 360 isn't jaw-dropping; and hyped elements of the console, such as the controller and PS3 Home, are ideas which have clearly been nabbed from elsewhere. Plus, good investment or not, there are few people who can afford to spend nearly £500 (console + seperate game) on one purchase.

 I reckon the PS3 will be a great machine in a years time when the price has dropped and some bespoke games come out. Im just gobsmacked at Sonys fumbling of the launch.

Oh yeah, and and the controller needs to be sorted.
