I think the concept of an entertainment hub that can be used for 10 or so years is brilliant, and it probably would be a good investment in the long run, but I'm just not impressed at all with PS3. Some of the biggest games, such as GTA IV and Devil May Cry IV, will be available on other consoles; the graphics are pristine but the difference between PS3 and 360 isn't jaw-dropping; and hyped elements of the console, such as the controller and PS3 Home, are ideas which have clearly been nabbed from elsewhere. Plus, good investment or not, there are few people who can afford to spend nearly £500 (console + seperate game) on one purchase.
