 It wont work for 2 reasons

1) You cant as Sleazy says back up every save as some are account/console locked.

and

B) Once your PS Plus account finished you would not have access to your saves unless you re-subscribed.

Thanks for the responses guys.

inysgill, I'm fine with losing access to the save later as I just want to do it to transfer the saves. Any idea which saves in particular will not work? I imagine it is linked to the particular game. As long as dragon age 1&2 and skyrim are safe (and to a lesser extent the assissins creed and batman arkham asylum games) then I'm not overly bothered. Losing the rpg saves will confirm mrs jodan's belief that that was 90+ hours wasted!

 Couldn't see this in search, but somehow Singstar has appeared in my games list, not sure if it got installed with another game or an update, but I can't get rid of it!?!? Anyone else have this and know how to get this crap off my screen?

 It was part of the last software update (along with the trophies moving). Don't think there's anyway to remove it, although you're not the only one annoyed by it's presence.

 I went to add Arkham City and Vanquish and even though they are the free games for December, the store kept trying to charge me for them, I hope they fix this soon.

 To be fair Base, I think 8 quid for 3 months of Plus is worth it, I mean sometimes I buy games just because I want something new to play, but with this I'm gonna save a lot of cash as I can just see whats available to download and take my pick. (A mate of mine gave me the tip of 'purchasing' everything but not downloading it, as then it'll stay in your download list for free whilst you have PSN+ and if you ever fancy something different you can play it)

 It is, I think they shift Little Big Planet and Infamous 2 off the list this month.
Its Mortal Kombat for Vita PS+ users next week, cant wait.

 I played a bit and got annoyed I could not get anywhere as everyone else had been on it for about 2 weeks longer.

To me it just sounds like a cheap rental subscription? You subscribe and get some free (random) games and if you subscribe you can't play them any more?

I assume if you played a game via subscription and then cancelled and actually bought it you could carry on your save?

Any more to it than that?

Basically you keep the games until your subscription runs out (as far as im aware) - discounted games and DLC through PS+ you keep regardless of having a subscription (because you have essentially paid for them, albeit at a disounted rate), same with premium themes and avatars (ive still got the fire breathing dragon theme from getting free PS+ after the whole network hack debacle) - you'll have have access, sometimes, to early demos and beta access to games; as well as PS+ only premium themes and AVs which wont be available to folk ever on the main store front.

I dont think the save file becomes useless after playing the game then deleting or not carrying on your sub, and THEN rebuying the game at retai or DL. I could be wrong though, i think its the same kinda save files regardless of the medium.

It also offers the facility to download updates etc in the background or at scheduled times for you (like when at work or doing some thing else). You can also back up saves online to a cloud (i think) storage - which wouldnt be available to non subscribers.

This is my understanding of the service anyhoos.

...and you also get a nice little golden '+' next to your name.

 Since when did the PSN store instantly start downloading when you bought stuff? Just went to purchase F1 All Stars through my PSN + and it started downloading straight away

 Just noticed that myself.

Slightly annoying in that I would "purchase" but not download, meaning I could save stuff up to d/l when I was ready to play it, rather than taking up room on the hard drive, and therefore not miss out on anything from PS+.

 Sleeping Dogs on PS+ now too, didn't know anything about this one when I downloaded it, finding it a pleasant surprise. Not really big on crime sims but the story seems to have more going for it, and am absolutely LOVING the fact that when you press the button to block attacks, it ACTUALLY BLOCKS THE ATTACK (a welcome change after actually destroying a controller in frustration at metal gear rising's utterly non-existent block button!!!! )!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mass Effect 3 coming in March, and MGS HD collection halfway through the month (better buy some tougher controllers!!!)
