Welcome one and all to the part of the forum that gives you a taste of the past, a delectable step back in time to discuss, recommend and debate about movies from a bygone era. In order to make this part of the forum as active and involving as possible please read the following guidlines; - Use the index below before making a thread. To keep threads alive we actively encourage using existing threads where they have a relevance to the post you are wanting to create. For instance; a post on the film Spellbound would fit well in to the 'Films of Alfred Hitchcock' thread. The more obscure the film the better it will be if you can add the post about it to an existing thread so that we can create bodies of work by the same directors/actors and generate discussion. It also makes it easier for users to learn about old films and follow the path of a particular auteur, actor or genre. - Use Common Sense and Good Judgment. Some films of course, are so worthy of a mention that they deserve a thread of their own, this is a judgement call. If you do create a thread on one film then please try to add link(s) to other relevant threads, where possible, in order to create a fluidity and to draw users to related film discussions. But most importantly...We are a friendly bunch in here so please don't be intimidated if some of us show our passions for old movies in lengthy posts, we do welcome contributions from the frequent, the casual and the one time visitors. If you are at all unsure of where to post then feel free to PM either myself or one of the regulars (you'll soon spot them). And now on to the listings; From the brilliant idea painstakingly created on the old forum by Harry Lime, I give you a list that links directly to all threads created to date (hover your cursor over the blue name or title). Please peruse this list prior to posting to ensure duplications do not occur and to aid you in determining where your post would be of most benefit! **PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THIS THREAD FOR A MORE UP TO DATE LIST BY HARRY LIME** Directors Woody Allen (the early years) Frank Capra John Cassavetes John Ford Ray Harryhausen (known more so for his special effects) Alfred Hitchcock Stanley Kubrick Akira Kurosawa Douglas Sirk Preston Sturges Billy Wilder Orson Welles James Whale Actors and Actresses Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers Humphrey Bogart Cary Grant Montgomery Clift Kirk Douglas Henry Fonda Will Hay Audrey Hepburn Ben Johnson Harold Lloyd Carole Lombard Myrna Loy Ida Lupino Lee Marvin Steve McQueen Marilyn Monroe Dick Powell Frank Sinatra James Stewart Films by Title Alexandr Nevskiy (and Russian Directors) All About Eve A Matter of Life and Death American Graffiti Angels with Dirty Faces Animal Crackers An Inspector Calls A Streetcar Named Desire Barefoot in the Park Brief Encounter Brighton Rock Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Calamity Jane Casablanca Citizen Kane Deliverence Easy Rider Fantasia Five Easy Pieces Gilda Go West Guys and Dolls Henry V It Happened One Night Kind Hearts and Coronets Laura Martin Metropolis Night of the Living Dead Notorious Once Upon A Time in the West Patton Phantom of the Opera Planet of the Apes Rear Window Rope Rosemary's Baby Singin' in the Rain Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Stazione Termini Theatre of Blood The Adventures of Robin Hood The Asphalt Jungle The Beguiled The Blue Dahlia The Court Jester The Great Race The Hustler The Intruder The Jolson Story The Lost World The Millionairess The Monkey's Paw The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes The Scarlet Empress The Seventh Seal The Shooting The Third Man The Treasure of the Sierra Madre The Trial The Wages of Fear The Wicker Man The Witchfinder General This Sporting Life Touch of Evil To Have or Have Not Twelve Angry Men Discussions Laurel and Hardy, the Marx Brothers or The Three Stooges The Godfather.
