I got broadband today and I wanted to experience xbox live as I never have, shameful I know.

Does anyone have or know where I can get a free code for a trial so I can try before buy so to speak.

Hey guys, not sure if this is exactly the right place but I need a little help / advice. I was round my girlfriends for Easter holidays and she had downloaded The Walking Dead Episode 1 for free in the Easter sale. I played it. Loved it. Decided to get the other four episodes which were all on sale. Knowing though, that since I would be using her console for the next week or so, if I bought them now they would download to her machine, I went on my laptop and bought them through xbox.com. I also made sure that I got Episode 1 as I had read that Episode 2-5 were just DLC and needed the first episode to play. I removed them from my download queue, where it confirmed I could still download them at any time and enjoyed the Easter Holidays. yesterday, I came back, added the 5 episodes to my download queue on my laptop and switched my own 360 on. What set alarm bells going straight away was when Episode 1 had finished it said "The Walking Dead - Trial Game Downloaded". This threw me, as I had bought (albeit for free) the full game and then the rest of the episodes. I couldn't check it until this morning when the rest had finished and guess what? It don't work. I go to the title screen and it says "Play" - which then shows me all the episodes but I can only select Episode 1. That then jumps to a point further in the game than the start which I assume is just a trial taster. And underneath Play it says "Unlock Episode 1" - I click on that and it takes me to the screen to buy Episode 1 for 400msp. Now some friends have said that it's because I haven't played episode 1 yet on this console. This doesn't seem to ring true though as I have my game save on my pen drive with my account and I've even copied it to the HDD to see if that makes a difference. Plus, why would it ask me to Unlock Episode 1, or jump to a random point in that game rather than the start of the episode? I know it's only 400msp, but it's a piss take that I got this whilst it was free but because I coudn't download it til after the sale had finished I now have to pay if I want to play the episodes I've already bought? Any advice or tips on how to fix this or where to complain to?

Yeah, like you say it's probably because it's switched back from free to 400msp in the meantime.

Obviously if you purchased it free at one time or another you should still be able to download it (for free) at a later date. Probably some loophole in the code with free content not activating on the account properly until downloaded, could be anything, but it sounds bugged.

Select the type of problem and then choose to chat with Microsoft support, you might have to wait a bit but they've managed to help me once or twice in the past, worth a shot.

Thanks mate. Yeah, I'm in the support chat with them now. They were trying to say that only the trail was free but I've just proven them wrong with a screenshot from the website sale and now they're ignoring me and just repeatedly saying : "Jan: I have not heard from you for a while. Do you still need assistance? " Fuckers.

Yeah they're not exactly great, I had a password reset problem once upon a time and I must have had to explain it 23 times before they finally caught on to what I was saying.

I'm also not convinced English isn't their first language in most cases, making it doubly frustrating.

Yeah, its little telltale signs like using the wrong tense or the exact same phrasing. The second agent seemed a lot nicer but was still bloody useless. They're insisiting I only have the trial game on my account and need to pay for episode 1 to play the others. Even though I proved that it was the full game that was free at the time. This guy said that he also got them all in the sale and enjoys them "very muchly". Good to know. First of all, after I proved to him it was the full game he wanted to run troubleshooting on my console to see if the download had been corrupted. I pointed out that since it says on their system that I only have the trial game on my account, then the problem can't be local. I asked if it could be amended on my account remotely now I've proven that I should have the full game and then I could try re-downloading it. He said it was a possibility then asked me to wait. came back and said the problem is more "severe than we expected" (what the fluke does that mean???) and that he needed to pass it onto Tier 3 who would contact me within 72 hours...
