Game, HMV & Virgin all had 360's available to play today...... Played a bit of Call of Duty 2 & Perfect Dark Zero!

Have to say - AWESOME!!!!!!

I want one, but will have to wait at least 6 months I think!

 I didn't know that Perfect Dark Zero was playable in the demo machines  I've been pushing little kids out the way in Game to play Call of Duty 2, King Kong and Kameo.

I'll have to make a return visit and have a go on Perfect Dark.

For those with Broadband the entire NEVER BEFORE SEEN first level of Perfect Dark Zero is up for download or streaming, about 400 megs , it's big but very good. Think Time Splitters rather than Goldeneye. Still looks well worth a play though.

perfect dark i remember playing it on n64 back in
the day great game gonna look better than ever on 360

 Just bought the second issue of the official xbox 360 magazine. It has reviewed Perfect Dark and Kameo which both get 9 out of 10. I know it's an official mag so it shouldn't be seen as unbiased. Condemned gets 8 as does Quake 4. Call of Duty 2 gets a 9.

The magazine is a good read and has some nice pics, no Dead or Alive 4 review so the chances of it making it to the UK before Christmas are getting slim.

 There's a couple of reviews kicking about for Perfect Dark Zero, both giving it 9/10.  However, both are official 360 magazines (one the UK one, the other Sweden's) so how much faith you can put in these is debatable.  In the meantime, have a couple of new screenshots, Marjorie.

Sorry to hear that, I called Game again today and they said since I pre-ordered the core system I will defiantly be getting one. Also Asda and Argos will be getting them in and no pre-orders for them two so if you go early enough you might be able to get one. Also worth putting an order in at Play.com and Amazon.co.uk for the core system as thats the only one most people have a chance of getting. If you pre-order at GAME check your receipt to see where you are on the list 1030 would mean you are 30th on the list.

I'll be at Game at Midnight on the 1st of December

 I'm not too bothered about getting one launch day (though it would be tits) so wouldnt go and get one elsewhere and lose my deposit (all ten pounds of it) dont see the point of just getting the core system as i want the hard drive etc so wouldnt just get one to have on launch day then have to shell out for the extras (which will be in such short supply its unreal)

Yeah i can wait..... honest..

but seriously i'm not that excited, the launch lineup doesnt exactly wow me.

 I've preordered mine from HMV today. They said that I won't be able to get mine until mid January which for me is a godsend. I'm at Uni which means I will be leaving all my stuff down here for Christmas so I wouldn't be able to play on it and it gives me enough time to save some cash as a penniless student. I'm looking forward to it - gives me some time to play one and decide which game or games I want.

 Hmm maybe I will get one, but not before xmas. Also I'm not impressed by any of the titles so far - most of them look like high-res XBox games and I've been playing Call of Duty 2 on my PC all week... I was expected them to actually be next-gen, not current-gen.

Seeing the 360 running in game at the weekend in HD on one of those funky little 26' Samsung flat panels has got me looking at LCD's/Plasma's all over again. Not too mention every single game review I've read thus far repeatadley asserts just how special stuff like Project Gotham looks in Hi-Def!

 Well, the first online (well the first I've come across) Perfect Dark Zero review has been posted over at TalkXbox and it's nothing less than positive.  They give it a gushing 9.7 which is all very nice and all but it's an Xbox site after all (The Official 360 mag have given it 9/10, btw).  I'll be waiting for Edge's review in a few days time, along with those from IGN, Gamespot and Gamespy.  Only then will I be able to relax a bit about the game I've been looking forward for five years to play.  Why does December 2nd seem so far, far away?

Next issue (out on the 24th) is going to review a skew of them, including Kameo, PGR3 and COD2.  Whilst reviews always have to be taken with a pinch of salt, Edge are usually find them to be pretty much on the money (and yes, that includes the prefect 10 they gave to Halo).

I was reading the new Edge today (Shadow of the Colossus 8/10), and no Perfect Dark hasn't been reviewed, how could it? It was only just finished. I'm dubious about reviews that manage to plow out reviews already, the sites only received their copies a few days ago. 8/10 is a fantastic score though, in no way is that tough Godzilla. They're overly generous with pop-Microsoft, so may give it a 9 (Halo 2), they certainly did with Project Gotham Racing 3 on the 360. Nice to see other games being reviewed properly, and not trashy one-sided opinions from 'official' magazines. Kameo received a 7 from EDGE, with other games getting a 6.

I don't see why some of you were so impressed with Call of Duty on those 'trendy' HD screens, it looked fucking terrible, even more so because it is HD. The controller is nice though. I just can't believe Microsoft are spouting they have the best line-up of any launch ever. I'm sure Perfect Dark will be great, but I've read that it could of been so much more, how can you live upto to 5-6 years worth of hype, you can't. It's evident from the video's that it's a slightly advanced X-Box shooter.

Hopefully things will improve once the developers get to grips with the hardware, but we need innovation, not just an improvement in visuals - something the PS3 is looking at.

Rod, there is a great Hideo Kojima interview in EDGE this month. He explains the possibilities of MGS4, his mockery of war titles in recent years from the shown trailer (just one setting of the game), and how he intends to push the gameplay forward dramatically (a constantly changing environment - "no place to hide").

I'm not convinced, and will try to pick up a couple, just to sell on to rich fools come Christmas.

Edge is probably the only quality mag out there at the mo, though I'm coming round to gamesTM as well.

I've been lapping up Xbox 360 mags at the moment because I'm getting a mite impatient waiting for the console's release, and I'm shocked at how dreadfully written some of them are. I mean, 360 Magazine has a nice look about it and they do try, bless 'em, but (without wanting to sound like some mad old Radio 4 listener) their standard of spelling, punctuation and grammar is dreadful. X360 is a little better though, and I do like their Ian Lee column.

And why must they all have such similar names? X360, 360, XBox 360...it's twistin' me melon, man.
