I only follow the NFL, but anything else is of course welcome.

Right, we're getting to the important part of the season for most teams now. And by most I of course exclude my team, the Dolphins, who are sinking without trace after a few promising wins to start the season.

It's difficult to look beyond the Colts at this point, 7-0 and a sure thing for home field advantage. Added to that their main nemesis over the last few seasons, the Patriots, are clearly on the slide at the moment.

Other than that a lot of the other teams are competitive without standing out (another reason to go for the Colts) the Bungles are losing their nickname, Seattle and Tampa are doing well and I expect Pittsburgh to be there come the end of the season. The Eagles should pick up the pace in the East towards the end of the regular season too.

I've also just looked at Green Bay's 144-118 points difference, yet they're 1-5. That's an astonishing stat, though Brett Favre's heorics tend to keep them in games when they'd otherwise fold.

Yeah we blew it again. The Raiders have Four downs to get one yard for a touchdown and unable to do it.

That just sums up the season. 4 wins all year. Oh well surely can't get much worse next season can it

I always like January weekends as it play-offs times.

I agree with you batrico on your predictions apart from Carolina / NY Giants I go for the Giants as I like them

Nice to see the Dolphins put it an good performance, although we only won by a safety in the end, if you look at the stats we dominated the yardage. Fingers crossed for next year.

Having said that:
It's crunch time now, guys and gals.

I'm going for:

Tampa Bay over Washington.
New England over Jacksonville.
Carolina to win against the Giants.
Cincinnati to win against Pittsburgh.

Though I do think the Cincinnati win will be regarded as a bit of an upset. I think Jax vs N.E. will be closer than people predict too, but what do I know?

Interestingly, ITV have got the coverage for the playoffs, which means hello to Gary Imlach (who remains for favourite presenter of any form of Sport) and goodbye to the chumps on Five. I envy you Sky folks at this time of year, I really do.

What Five have got is a classic game from the past. It's the Dolphins vs Chargers from the 1982 playoffs. Interesting.

It is the best time to have Sky for the Playoffs. I have a total sunday of America Football.

As I am out Saturday Night so I record both Saturday night games and start watching Sunday Morning and that will lead me into Sunday night game. I shall watch the first one and part of the 2nd game record the rest of it and watch after work on Monday.

Well, College Football is over....days ago...but I haven't been online...so here are my reports and opinons....
Starting with my FAVORITE of ALL TIME!!!!!!
PENN STATE!!!!

My favorite coach Joe Paterno bet Bob Bowen in 3OT (florida state) 24-23 INSANE game!!!! Total defense. I was very upset how Penn State played but they lost several key players and so it was understandable. The Kickers for both sides were UNACCEPTABLE!!!! It was a STRESSFUL game I was dying...yelling....closing my eyes at key intense moments hoping that if I didn't look that Penn State would score (and they did

). anyway...in the end I was happy.

Texas vs. USC--I didn't stay home to watch it...went to a party and heard the score 41-38 on the radio. Texas bet USC. I heard they were out played like NOBODY'S business....sounds like a great offensive game! Too bad I missed it but I don't like Texas and I don't like SC.

I watched the Norte Dame vs. Ohio State and walked away hating Ohio State more than I ever have. HOW dare ND loose!!!! Anyway...those were my most important games....oh and FLORIDA won (but they had a crap season!)

Enjoy your playoffs. I think I'll stick with the Steelers win or loose!

Just finished watching last nights games.

No surprise the Pats had a very easy one. A bit boring that game as it was one sided

Washington beat Tampa Bay and I don't know how they did as Tampa were the better team, but as it's a one off game if you don't take you chance then you could be going out

Panthers v Giants game is really all over Panthers lead 20 - 0 with 13 mins left.

Giants have really sucked big time tonight and have never look liked winning.

Hopefully the Bengals v Steelers will be a better game

The Panthers coasted through with a 23-0 win in New Jersey against the Giants. Somewhat of a surprise as the wind and weather in Giants Stadium in January is generally known to favour the home team. First play-off shut out since 1980!!

The Steelers thumped the Bengals 31-17, though the Bengals lost QB Palmer in with a torn ACL on only the second play of the game. Following that they lost one of their WR's and had no replacement available!!
Talk about bad luck!

The Bucs were unfortunate to lose to the Redskins, who only managed 120 yards offence. But then again, they didn't most of their work on the defence and pinned the Bucs back a number of times. Good call by the referees on the incomplete pass which nearly saw the Bucs draw level with 3 mins to go. He did lost control as he went down in the end zone.

So next week's Divisional play-off games:

Saturday:

Redskins @ Seahawks (Seahawk win)
Patriots @ Broncos (Pat's win in OT)

Sunday:

Steelers @ Colts (too close to call, but going with a Colts win)
Panthers @ Bears (I fear for the Bears, even with home advantage)

personally im gonna go for a seahawks v patriots nfc championship game, and a colts v panthers afc one....

on current form i reckon the seahawks are probably the better team but i think the pats experience might just let them pull it off.. and i reckon it will be a pats v colts superbowl......

but then after the poor show of my fantasy team wat the hell do i know?? lol

I'm hoping the Bears win against the Panthers, but after last night's performance at Giants I can't see it.

As for the Bowl itself - I'm going with Colts v Seahawks.
The Patriots have all the post-season experience but I just think that homefield advantage will give the Seahawks that extra edge.

Colts win the Bowl......

I just hope next week games are far better than the wild card weekend as overall I thought it was overall pretty poor games.

The only game I did not see was the Steelers v Bengals. I saw about the first 8 mins and taped the rest but the sodding paper today had the score in it this morning.

Past few years the paper has never had the late game score in it but today it did. Must make sure next week I don't look at it.

Well as the next round of Playoff are nearly here. Here are my predictions for these games.

Washington v Seattle. - Seattle to Win

New England v Denver - New England to Win

Pittsburgh v Indianapolis - Indianapolis to Win

Carolina v Chicago - Chicago to Win.

Not to sure about the last game as I have not seen much of either team play.

But if I am right this will set up a New England v Indianapolis match which will most likely be better than the actual Superbowl game.

Desperately had to avoid this thread over the weekend so I could watch the ITV highlights without knowing the results. Needn't have bothered, really.

There's usually one rubbish round in the playoffs bolstered by a single great game, sadly with the injury to Carson Palmer I reckon we were robbed of that in the Bengals Steelers match.

Still, my Panthers are looking sharp at the moment, my predictions for the divisional round:

Seattle over Washington - easy
Denver over New England - close, but the altitude will be help for Denver.
Indianapolis over Pittsburgh - the Colts are the best team, the only danger is if they've had too few competitive games recently.
Carolina over Chicago - I reckon one big play from Steve Smith could win it for the Panthers. It'll be a tense low scorer this.

Having said that I was rubbish at predicting the wild card round, so feel good if you want the opposite to happen to my picks.

Do you subscribe to NASN on Sky? The NFL progs are fantastic,as well as the magazine shows Around the Horn and PTI. You get all the backstories and all the up-to-date stuff in the NFL. My progamme planner is stuffed to the gills with sports.

The Pats have really sneaked up on everybody,haven't they. Shocker.

I have NASN but I have not watched it for a while.

I normally watch that for the Baseball Season and the Ice Hockey play-offs

I used to love Around the Horn I will have to try and start watching it again

Bellichick hasn't lost in the playoffs against a team they've beat in the regular season. He's got seven guys back from injury.Looks bad for the Broncos.
Panthers are looking good.Let's face it the Bears aren't the 85 Bears no matter how you sell it.Jake Delhomme may just choke in the face of such an important game.
Seattle. Ooooooh, Seahawks do have Shaun Alexander.And Holmgren really does need this win.
The Redskins have Portis. It's nice to see someone have fun with the game.Can he keep the shenanagins to the minimum and just play the game this weekend?
I love the Bus. He is going to prove to be trouble for the Colts. Of course with the awful stuff that's happened to the Dungy family and the football family they have a lot of emotional impetus.

Does anyone else get really down in the off-season. My husband and I almost were black armbands.

I just don't think I can call it.There seems to be a reason for me to support all the teams here.Each has a different facet I like.The Bucs went out(my team) and I just love the game ,no matter who plays. Will be well pissed off if the Bucs sign TO by the way. Sims needs a wide reciever, but not that fool. Look what happened to Keyshawn.

We do watch the baseball. I'm not as much of a fan as the husb, but we go to watch the local Nighthawks American football team and a couple of years ago we were regulars to watch the Claymores. The college games are also worth following as you can see the up and comers.

The icehockey is worth it for the on-ice fights.

Heres my picks I didnt do too badly in previous round.Who'd have thought Washington would win with only 120 yards.
Seattle over Washington - Unless washington are still riding their luck.If they win this i think their names on the trophy.
New England over Denver- The pats are starting to look good
Indianapolis over Pittsburgh - the Colts if they play like they did earlier this season..
Carolina over Chicago - Ive seen more of Carolina and i think theyre as good as the season they made the Superbowl.

As regards NASN i think its too darn expensive for one channel.I would like to see the Hockey but hay aint paying just for one sport..

Well what happened to New England last night. I have never seen them do so many fumbles.

Denver did not do to much going forward but punished New England mistakes. Good Game.

There were some dodgy decisions on behalf of the ref,umps and judges. However, so many turnovers are going to kill any game . I don't think the score showed what truly happened for the larger part of the game. I felt the fourth quarter was totally owned by the Broncos and by then the damage was done.
Having said this, I am surprised that the Pats got as far as they did ,what with the injuries and also the hard schedule that they had this season.

So,now I'll root for the Steelers.

Good game at the mo, shame the Colts are losing though

Ballsy move by Manning calling the punting line off the field. I just hope there is enough time to grab two more TD's.
