Like a pert virgin, Sven ruined them for me. 10 substitutions at half time meant it was a knock-about. I guess the manager got some insight to that. But all it meant to me was that I felt like one of the few adults in England to have not been capped. As Brazil are ranked 12 places below England I'd say we've got to be looking at a 4-1 win or something, haven't we?

That would have been a certainty I'm sure*, except they now have Ronny the Space Gaucho back in their team, so we'll get taught a Brazilian masterclass. I fully expect either Rooney or Wilshere to allow their frustrations at being shown what true skill is to boil over, and at least one will get sent off

I'm quite looking forward to seeing Neymar.
I can honestly say I've never seen him play, but keep hearing a lot about him (most notably how 90% of his 200kpw wages are paid by a conglomerate of businessmen who want to keep him at Santos)

Neymar will become a very good player, maybe not on the Messi/Ronaldo scale but a good one none the less.
I look at him (comparing) as a slightly more developed Robinho and one,in the long run, will offer more.

Should be a decent match tonight.

I've seldom heard a higher recommendation.

I look at Carrick as a slightly more skillful Carlton Palmer.
Edin Dzeko is a slightly more accomplished Jason Lee.

This is fun, I suggest it has its own thread

Carlton Palmer was amazing.
He's up there with Titus Bramble,Heskey and Ali Dia as PL greats.
Out of the current crop I'll expect Gervinho to make the same breakthrough as the greats mentioned above.

I've seen Wilshere a couple of times since he came back from injury. One time he was MotM ran the show looked dangerous every time he had the ball. The other he was several yards off the pace and dived into everything. I think the latter may have been against a good team. I'm worried now

Wilshere looked good against Liverpool so hopefully he is finding some good form now.

Just looked through the Brazil squad and Im surprised there is no space for some of the Shakhtar players.

Was that the United match (sounds like it anyway)? He wasn't back to full fitness at that stage, but he's been our best player in almost every game over the last two months. I'm going to be called biased for saying this (and I certainly am biased), but this Brazil team wishes it had a midfielder who can pass the ball like Wilshere - of their current squad, only peak Ronaldinho and *maybe* Lucas Moura is capable of it.

N.B. I'm not saying that Wilshere is better than Ronaldinho at his peak (I'm not completely insane).

Yeah, remember that game against Barcelona when he was diving into everything and not one of the best players on the pitch. That was awful.

Stewart Downing is a mildly enhanced John Salako.

Santos is a left-sided Maicon. Is he playing tonight?

Haha, I'm just picturing a full-back pairing of Santos and Dani Alves. 4-4-2 becomes 2-6-2.

I'm rubbish at thinking of things on the spot. He was the best I could do. I consoled myself that anyone would be much, much better than Santos. Another moment's thought and I'd have gone for Roberto Carlos.

There's something quite amusing about your best player being a central midfielder and then proceeding to bypass the midfield almost entirely. Almost as funny as 'new Pele' Neymar being owned by Gary Cahill so far.

I've heard that it's so it doesn't clash with any of the soaps on in Brazil...games are usually on TV after the soaps at like 9.30-10pm. That would mean kicking off here at midnight.

Well done Joe! Think it should've been a pen for Cleverly's challenge! Ronnie missing means my bets are still on....

Poor pen. Based on the way the match has been going and that missed / saved pen I may have to reassess my prediction from 4-1 to 4-0

Danny Welbeck shouldn't be on the wing/pitch. Whatever floats yo boat.

What were you betting on? if it was Welbeck to score first, then you have no one but yourself to blame and should have just set fire to your money instead.
