So

a) What are the FA going to do with Capello now they've dealt with Terry

and

b) Do you think we'll ever go into a World Cup or Euro Championship year without a saga that rivals any teatime soap opera?

a) Nothing there's only 6 months on his contract. Capello is going to a meeting he was going to go to anyway, with a guy he was going to meet anyway, and the media are thundering Showdown! talks. He's not stepping down. The FA have no reason to try to remove him from the post. Nothing will happen.

b) Probably not. But I'm sure that most countries manage to conjure up some kind of drama before competitions.

Swing and a miss from Prof

You could say that I didn't see that coming Great news for England

how?

Did you not watch the world cup???

Do you not think one of the best managers in the world would learn something from that?

Are you forgetting that Capello has, by quite a bit, the best win percentage of any England manager?

DC, listening to OTB again I take it?

i dont really care about win% he's had 2 piss easy qualifying groups.what are his results against actually decent teams? Do i think he's learn't anything from the last world cup no,Terry still messing up the morale in the england team like he did 2 years ago and capello didnt have the balls to never pick him again.

There does come a point where you have to say that regardless of the manager the fact is that either the players are not good enough at international level, the expectation is far to high, or both.

I mean what if Mourniho takes over and does fuck all? Or Harry Redknapp? or Ancelotti (example only he's at PSG) the media and fan's can't keep saying "Oh well the manager is a clown, done this wrong , done that wrong etc" A bit of introspection might be called for, no?

At what point will the penny drop that the problem was/is the players? If the man who won the Serie A four times back to back (back when it was good) - along with the Champions League with Milan and league titles with four different clubs - can't get you playing like worldbeaters, the problem is probably elsewhere. Luckily the Golden Generation might all be gone by 2014, so there's that.

EDIT-

Isnt a "golden generation" supposed to win stuff/trophies.
Always made me laugh when the media/pundits come out with this little notion.

The "Golden Generation" was actually the tourno before. It was also largely a media creation (even the name was nicked from the young Poutuguese side of the early '90's) If you bought into that then more fool the person believing it...

What the hell? For serious, Fabio is gone? Fucking hell, I wanted him gone but after the World Cup would have been helpful not a few months before a damn tournament. We've made progress over the last few months, bringing in the younger players but well..I don't know what to say. At least Harry might have Gerrard and Lampard back in midfield together.

I can honestly say that as far as everyone who wants England to fail totally at the Euros thinks they really want this to happen

What about Hiddink for the job on a short term contract? He's got experience at the top level, did well with South Korea (he might even be able to bribe a few linesmen) and he plays attacking football. He did a good job at Chelski and won the FA cup there. I like him better than Harry or Pearce.

I think Harry will take the job,but on a Part time basis till the end of the season where he'll leave spurs.
I'd be very surprised if we go into the euro's without a top manager in charge.

The merry go round is interesting.

My predictions:

Harry to take the England job part time for the Euro's and then full time.
Mourinho to take the City Job in the summer
Benitez to go to Real Madrid
Capello to go to spurs
Adebayor to kill himself

Fabio has gone according to Twitter, incredible.

I said to a work colleague (who posts on here actually), when Harry got off, that the FA would have him in part time by tea.

I was only joking though.

To be fair, Capello's managerial record speaks for himself. Getting rid of him/replacing him will not solve any of the problems with the England team though (wasn't he supposed to fix them?).

The only good part of this is if they appoint the new manager now, even if only part time until after the Euros.

That way these Euro's can be used for blooding the younger players, with a few older heads. Capello wouldn't have done this because he had nothing to gain. The new guy definitely does and would be allowed to do that, if he stated what his plan was.

Will City sack Mancini if he wins the league? If Mourinho leaves Real (probable), then I can see Capello going back for another stint there, but it's hard to imagine Jose managing Spurs. Of course, also plausible is Capello retires/Jose stays put/Spurs hire an up and coming manager like Rodgers or Lambert or something. Or dare I say that Arsenal could provide an opening for Don Fabio if Arsene feels like he hasn't met his personal standards (or whatever it was he said earlier in the season to that effect)?

I'm pretty sure it'll be a combination of Pearce and 'Arry for the Euros and probably after - although I'm sure the FA are kicking themselves that Sunderland nabbed O'Neill.

Not that it'll make a blind bit of difference. It's obvious to anyone that the culture of English football needs to change - the way young players are selected, the way the team is selected and the way the media hounds the manager.

Put another way, it doesn't matter who's in charge the egos of the players will derail the squad once again.

Players should not be blooded at international tournaments. They should already be blooded by the time they are called up to the main squad!

Am watching the Hearts-Celtic game on Sky just now and they've confirmed on there that Stu Pearce will take charge for the Holland game. I really don't want Redknapp in, I just don't see him as the man for the job and worry that Fat boy Frankie would never get dropped by his Uncle.

Though with Pearce at Tynecastle (presumably to scout for the Olympics), maybe he'll pick Gary Hooper up front?

I don't agree. I think in the circumstances the likes of Jones, Smalling, Cahill, Wilshire, Sturridge, AOC, could all be taken and play an important role but it would be blooding them none the less when you have the likes of Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, all sitting it out.

Furthermore, I don't recall Michael Owen playing many games before the world cup in 98?
