Ok...i searched and searched, but could not find a thread for christian bale ANYWHERE...he is in my opinion the best thing to come out of the uk since...well...ever!! He deserves A-list status, which he now has....but i fear he is still very much undiscovered by the general public...even after batman begins...dare i say i think this is down to his superb acting...when you watch his movies...you see the character, not the actor, unlike most of hollywood a-listers today.
So lets give it up for christian bale.....

p.s  i would like to see aviod the psycho characters he seems so fond of....allthough i love him for it!!

I hear you Kalel Reeve. that's the bale bold, beatiful and british. it seems like we're going to see a lot more of him post-batman his career is looking up

Is there anything he cant do? Could he come round to my flat and stop my dvd player from skipping despite me forking out 10 quid for a lense cleaner? If you've heard he can and you have his number, please let me know.

HA!! i wouldnt be surprised if he new exactly how to fix your DVD player.....trust me...this guy can do anything...ANYTHING....apart from give birth..oh god thats gross....i've taken it too far.....too far!!

 Christian is the man. It is official that there is nothing he can do. He actually painted my roof last week.
 
Seriously though check out his unofficial site http://www.christianbale.net/home.htm and become what is known as a "balehead".
 
Empire of the sun is one of my favourite films (the only one i will admit to crying to!) and even though he's a very young boy in it he owns the screen. Who says you shouldn't work with kids, well that's Speilberg for you!

 Yeah... i kinda see what you mean but he's nowhere near as bad as De Niro for that.
 
Let's face it, most modern actors don't seem to put much effort into their roles nowadays. I never rated people like Brad Pitt, and Nic Cage for that very reason.

Pfff, of course he's the best Batman. Val Kilmer was awful, Adam West was in a spoof anyway and Michael Keaton is close but no characterisation.

In the meantime, he was brilliant in Empire of the Sun and American Psycho.

If you want a showcase of his talent, just check out Harsh Times. He's a blisteringly powerful presence, and carries the film all the way through.

I love Christian Bale (hell, I even thought he was hot in American Psycho and that's just wrong), but do you think he could pull off something like a romantic comedy without the audience thinking he's gonna murder the chick?  He's just so intense, which is great, but I can't imagine him in a 'light' role.

Im a big bale fan too. Trying to see more of his movies. Love American Psycho, the machinist, batman.... Great actor, great devotion to parts any other movies of his you recommend?

There really is nothing Bale can't do. Been a fan of his ever since I saw American Psycho a few years ago, and if I see one of his films by chance on TV, it's always worth it to keep watching. A case in point is a film he did called All the Little Animals with John Hurt a couple of years before AP. The plot is actually fairly mediocre, but Bale puts so much into his character that I couldn't stop watching. It's a nice little film, and lots of shots of the Cornish countryside. Hopefully post-Batman he'll become bigger in profile, but still keep making interesting, intelligent films that inspire the kinds of performances he's put in to date.

 Well...harsh times is a prime example of that. After doing Batman i'm sure lots of lucrative deals came his way but he decided to use his popularity to produce and help make harsh times. A film at the time which had been rejected by everyone in hollywood. He seems to really know his priority and manges to keep his integrity. You must check out Empire Of the Sun "dst2006". it's an amazing film and easily his best performance to date!

I think Equilibrium proves that Bale would have been a much better Neo than Keanu Reeves (although I'm more than happy with the Matrix films as they are).

I love Bale, and yes christianbale.net is recommended, especially the forums there.

There's nothing he can't do. Comedy? Romance? Sci Fi? Action? Brilliant drama? He is a god of acting. But more often than not, in the past at least, he's been the best thing about the movies he's in, esp Equalibrium. I could only watch that film because he was in it. And yes, he's sexy as hell, even when he's playing a psycho b****ard.

 Is there anything he can't do?.......well i have'nt seen him do a comedy or even a light film. He certainly is an incredible talent though, as shown in basically all his films.

 Be recognised by a whole lotta people in my office.

My team has been running a daily "Who's cooler?" poll. Today's choices are Ewan McGregor and Bale

Score is currently 16-12 for McGregor and about 12 of EM's votes are from people who don't know who Bale is.

Amazing really.

 As much as I rate him as an actor (definitely one of the best of his generation IMO) I think he's sold out a bit with this Terminator 4 thing.

I wonder what attracted him to the project. The fantastic, original concept? The excellent writing? Always dreamed of working of the legendary McG? Or the multi million dollar paycheck? Hmmmm....
