My other half was just saying the other day we need to dig that out - just after we watched Ruggles of Red Gap. Did that factor for you?

If it helps I liked it, except for Legacy I'd quite happily watch the other nine again. I adore Ruggles, it's fast become one of my favourites and though I can see a pathway to Topper, Ruggles is another level.

I'm not as big a fan. I was never overly fond of that yokel family humour that seemed to go over big in the US in the 30s and 40s (culminating in the Beverly Hillbillies I guess). And some scenes go on way too long for me. But Laughton - ah, Laughton. I could never decide if he was drunk, stoned or just taking the piss.

I didn't think I would like it at all, so my being instantly taken with it was a surprise. It's a little sentimental but I thoroughly enjoy myself whenever I watch it, thanks in large part to Laughton who could be all three but he looks to be enjoying himself.

Oh yeah absolutely, I really enjoyed it, a lot of fun despite the ending.

I liked all the girls and thought Roger's was very good. I'm still not over the fact Ann Miller was 14 whilst filming though.

The Five Year Engagement, Men in Black 3, Dark Shadows are awful, really really awful. Moneyball isn't much better (my second view and its plummeted) but compared to the utterly monstrous drivel of those three it's alright...

Compared to some of the crap he’s been dishing up on The Newsroom, Moneyball is well written (though given the lack of women…) but it didn’t do anything for me this time round and I like Sorkin. I thought it was decent last year and I quite like baseball films despite not having much interest in the actual game but I was far too easily distracted during this viewing counting how often Brad Pitt displayed Redford mannerisms, how often he ate food, how repeatedly Jonah Hill gawked into space…it failed to hold my attention.

 I was just pleased there were no moments where I rolled my eyes so hard they nearly fell out of my ears. That's what usually happens with me and Sorkin.

It just makes we want to rewatch Sports Night - Moneyball is really poor, IMO, compared to the sports talk on that and, for me, none of the performances are anything to write home about. 1/3rd of the focus on an out of his depth Jonah Hill might be amusing but it sure as heck doesn't make a film watchable.

 I liked Hill in Moneyball. Couldn't stand him before. Liked him in 21 Jump Street as well.

This. Which oddly for me stopped the film feeling contemporary and kind of diluted the message.

I think its a very poor film because it doesn't work in the medium of film, but I know others who love it. I thought the book was awesome. Maybe I'm just really hard to please on adaptations.

BAD film, not film.

Hill did not impress me. Astonishingly only Tatum did in 21 Jump Street. Hill, to me, did what he always does and all he seems capable of doing.
