I'm having problems uploading photos in so as much as I can't!!

I have tried to copy and paste with [IMAGE] [IMAGE]

What am I doing wrong?

What do you mean by 'upload'? The site doesn't host pics - what you need to do is upload pics to an online hosting site - something like Imageshack or Photobucket - and then the URL they give you. You don't need code - click the yellow mountain icon in the menu above each post. You just add the URL there.

Ok I've got a question folks, let's see if you can help me out. I've just got a new computer and whenever I go to post on the forum now the coding appears in the post I'm writing for example [ b] [/b ] whenever I put something in bold. This means my posts are going to get confusing when writing them as I'm not used to having the codes. On other computers I could just highlight what I wanted in bold and click the bold icon.
Is there something I have to do with settings or something to no longer have the code appear in my post as I'm writing it?

Is it a different software/browser version you're using as well? I've had that problem with different browsers and also when I got this new laptop with updated software - but it offered something about accepting or rejigging with individual websites. I'm sorry I can't remember the terms it used as I'm sure that'd be more useful - but I think asking the query again in Knowledge Base where our techy minded experts tend to post might get a better/quicker answer?

When I switched from Windows to Linux the same happened to me. Have you changed your operating system? I haven't done anything about it, but I agree it is annoying.

I have experienced exactly the same problem. It is most peculiar. Though I am sure that I am doing something wrong, I cannot for the life of me understand what it is.

Hi there, I'm just after some help with email notifications from forum threads.

I want to turn off the notification for whenever I post to a thread and revisit, but can't seem to do it.

My forum preferences are currently set to -

Forum subscription preference
Notify me only when a new topic is posted

Thread subscription preference
Notify me once per thread until I visit the thread again

And also "Always Subscribe to threads when I post" is unticked.

Any ideas?

Hey i keep getting a "505 internal error" report everytime i try to put a new avatar up and i dont think i am doing anything wrong. All the avatars i've tried are the right size and format what am i doing wrong :'(

Are you trying to link to pics on your PC? Because Empire doesn't host pics. This is a common mistake,

You need to upload your pic to a hosting site - something free like Photobucket eg - and then copy the URL across.

You need the direct link for the image - which you need to be signed into that page to get I think. At the moment you're just linking to the page the picture is on, not the picture itself

If it is your page, then expand the links to share your image box, choose direct link, then paste that into the relevant line.

Only just saw this, so way too late to help now, but if anyone is still having problems with this then what you got to do is go to TOOLS, click onto Compatibilty View Settings and add Empire Forum to run in this!

Once its done, log out or re-boot your system and then hey presto, its all back to normal!

You already can, sort of. Use invisiotext which is done by changing the text colour to the same grey as the background. Basically it's [ color=#F1F1F1] spoilery text goes here [ /color] but without the space after each of the "["s. You can just type "spoilers-->" and then "<--spoilers" either side of the invisiotext bit then. Simples.

If by "Simples" you mean a right faff, then I agree.

I've been doing that (kinda). Remembering the code is one thing. Plus "[ color=#F1F1F1] " is a heck of a lot more characters and fiddlier to type than "[spoiler]" I think you'll agree.

The reason I made the request is because I'd just answered a few spoiler questions with spoiler answers and done the colour bodge, and it was, well, a right faff.
