According to The Times, The Sun and Sky Sports News amongst others, Goldenshowers has been dropped by Super Mac and his international career is over. Unlucky, you massive, massive penis.

You can stll get 5/1 on him not adding to his 94 caps, hurry people, hurry!!

I can't help but wonder if this is McClaren showing us that he's got balls or if he's just attempting to please the general consensus that were calling for Beckham to be dropped. Maybe it's that purveyor of sleaze Clifford weaving his 'magic'.

I don't think McClaren will just go and drop Beckham like that plus Aaron Lennon could do with a full season in the premiership to improve his international game, it would be a lot of pressure on the young lad to throw him in there straight away.

Benty played for us in our 2-1 win against Germinal Beschroot the other night so he's back to fitness which means with both Owen and Rooney and speaking of dropping, Walcott being demoted to the international squad he should have been in from the first place, surely Mac has to include him Johnson and Defoe.

If Beckham is a "massive, massive penis", then I'm proud that you've called me the same. He's been a good player, a very good captain and, even considering his shameless material excesses (which are hardly unique), is transparently a decent human being. He should - of course - have to prove that he's worth a place in the team, but the vitriol reserved for him in quarters of the press (and these boards) is difficult to comprehend.

How is this news even remotely funny? I'm with rick_7. Beckham was a good captain and obviously a very good player. To call him a 'massive, massive penis' is just childish and offensive.

Its not confirmed yet, so the name of this thread does seem to be a tad premature. Its interesting to see lil steve try to grow some balls and lay down his "authority" (snigger) by dropping Beckham. I think its a safe bet that Beckham will win a few more caps before his time is out.

I would say it must be down to fitness reason above anything else. Okay so he's not injured but he's probably no where near match fitness.

Beckham was and is an excellent player. If anyone things we have the squad depth and talent to leave a player of his calibre out, then they are very misguided.

Agree with the above statements i do. Beckham's just become a whipping boy for some people.

I wouldn't have dropped him from the squad, maybe from the team though. Now it looks like we'll have Lennon, SWP and Pennant battling it out. One has a season in the PL, one had a terrible year last year, and the other is only in line for a call-up because he moved to Liverpool and Birmingham are obviously unfashionable.

It wouldn't be this widely reported in both broad-sheet and gutter press, as well as the radio if there was no truth in it. He's had a pre-season and should be as fit as any other player in contention.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he's been in decline for a couple of years (imagine what he'll be like in 2008) and, when you ally that to the fact he's never had a good tournament for England, it has to be the right decision. It's not going to be pretty watching him turn into a figure of fun, he deserves better and should realise himself the time has come. I'm actually quite impressed by McLaren for this move, still reckon he's a nipple, though.

Yeah he might have done, but he mentioned not wanting to rush back for an England friendly, he didn't say the same about Real, and he won't have played for long.

Beckham will be back - he gave his all for England and is due some respect. I think his experience will always help younger players and therefore should be included in any future England squads if fit.
