Apparently, the DVD is out on August 28th.  The bike chase with Noel Fielding is a barnstormer.  Too many class lines to pick a favourite, but while I'm here...

'I had a cat once. I dropped a safe on it. It was a write-off, so I stood on it's head.'

Padre to Rick - 'You're the most sensitive man I know, and I know God!'

Dagless in a room full of polluted water supplier - 'Water, water everywhere, but...not a drop to drink. Coleridge. Samuel T.'

'Maggot, maggots, maggots...maggots...'

Richard Ayoade was the only good thing in The IT Crowd (when Chris Morris wasn't about) and he stole the show in The Mighty Boosh ('You know nothing of the crunch!')

'You're a fool Dag, you're a fool... you're a flipping fool!'

'Garth is the most significant artist and I've worked with Lulu and four other people, so we're talking creme de la creme.'

"I've written more books than I've read."

My favourite bit is the One Track Lover song. Genius

Incidentally, I was reading about Marenghi on wikipedia, and they were saying how he is similar to real writer Shaun Hutson (who I've never heard of). His web site is almost as funny as Marenghi's: http://www.shaunhutson.com/

Oooh also, new series "Man to Man with Dean Learner" is coming soon!

With Dean Lerner's rap.

The first episode was an absolute corker, notably the funeral scene with Lerner randomly shooting off his pump-action, paper grave stones flapping in the wind, Dagless shooting the mother and torching the zombie/corpse/Larry but my favourite moment was the emotional exchange between Dagless and his best buddy.

Larry: "I think I'm gonna die"
Rick: "No you're not, you're gonna make it, I'll get help. NURSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! First things first I've gotta stop you bleeding"
Larry: *cough* *splutter* "Rick, I beg ya...kill me"
Rick: "Oh Jesus Larry, don't do this to me"
Larry: "I beg ya...it reaaaaaaaaaaaaaly hurts"

"I wouldn't say I buy it Liz, lets just say I'm window shopping and right now there's a half price sale on weird"

I was hoping that in light of the huge fanbase that this show has developed it would persuade Channel 4 to commission an second series, sadly not it appears, still I think they should hang their heads in shame for screwing this wonderful program up in the first place.

It truly is a classic show.  Dean Lerner is the best comic creation ever.

"I called Garth the Orson Welles of horror, and that's not just because of his weight.  He's a titan of terror.  I call him that as well"

"We found out the mist was poisonous when 2 techies died, yes.  But, and i don't want to sound mean, but if someone has to die, it may as well be a techy.  I mean, another one shows up, with a toolbelt, it's the same hammer in the toolbelt, you can barely tell the difference."

Here's the synopsis for Shaun Hutson's book 'Slugs'

quote:

THEY SLIME, THEY OOZE, THEY KILL... One female slug can lay one and a half million eggs a year - a fact which holds terrifying consequences for the people of Merton. As the town basks in the summer heat, a new breed of slug is growing and multiplying. In the waist-high grass, in the dank, dark cellars they are acquiring new tastes, new cravings. For blood. For flesh. Human flesh...

I can hear Merenghi reading that aloud.

Marvellous.

Thought Man To Man With Dean Learner was okay, the clip from War of the Wasps was the highlight.

"The wasps are in the cockpit!  There are too many of them!" Cut to bloke with five wasps on fishing wire hanging beside him.  Sheer class.  Otherwise I'm not sure about Man to Man.  Maybe I just want Darkplace series 2 instead.

Darkplace is cult classic TV at it's best.  In ten years we'll probably look back at it with reverence like Fawlty Towers or The Prisoner.  I loved the bar fight where the extra walks in shot, realises he's too early, then steps back, then in walks Sanchez.  Then the extra gets a chair slammed over his head.

"Blood.  Blood.  Blood.  ...and piss.  And shit."

Classic show.

Man To Man was OK but I don't know if the idea can stretch to a whole series.

Watched the episode with One Track Lover last night and actually had to stop the DVD cos I was crying with  laughter too much.

It's Dean's rapping on it. Hilarious!

Either that or the one in my sig.
Best episode? Without a doubt it's gotta be "Skipper the Eyechild".
