 Even if it is, I'm sure you won't fail to be moved by the story. Given that these guys fought for a country and people who largely didn't give a damn about them. I think it offers a refreshing new on an aspect of WW2 that many were oblivious of.

This looks awful!

The only excitement I can garner is that it may lead to a mini rebirth (NOT REMAKE) of the WW2 adventure film (a la Where Eagles Dare or Von Ryans Express!) with the cutting edge fx to back up a rollercoaster boys-own yarn of derring-do.

Realism has been done enough, so now lets get the fun back into the war film by making entirely fictional wartime adventures that involve Mosquitos and Tigers and faceless Nazis and not having to worry about that bloody 'war is hell and the enemy had children too' attitude that always threatens to suck the enjoyment out of watching big explosions!

War IS hell, but it doesn't have to be if you're only watching a made up story set during one!

 George Lucas was on The Daily Show last night and was talking about the problems he had with the studios over the 'all-black cast'. Apparently that would have been difficult to market.

 They don't look wooden, the P-40s looked to be made from metal. I only know of the Mosquito to be made from wood. As for "Star Wars" elements, look closely at the original trilogy and then look at the likes of The Dambusters and 633 Squadron.

I mentioned The Dam Busters (just like the tube: "mind the gap!") first before 633 Squadron. I just happened to have the 633 Squadron video in my favourites. Although it seems Monsieur Lucas trawled over World War 2 combat footage in addition to the most famous aerial warfare films. So this mention of ripping or 'aping' as one would like to say of Star Wars is rather amusing. The film (Red Tails) may not be of documentary standard but then there are documentaries if we want a totally factual account of the Tuskagee airmen. Rather than a film which may in part embelish their actions but nonetheless honour them in its own way. I've been to the Möhne and Eder(see) dams (haven't been to the Sorpe dam) and I can testify that they look nothing like the Death Star trench. Just to avoid confusion.

The Story may be in the right place but its execution (from the trailer atleast) looks cringeworthy.

 First reviews are coming in after a showing at the White House with surviving Tuskegee Airmen. Apparently President Obama said it was 'epic'.

They're ok, but most seem to wonder if it'll find an audience.

 I have total respect for George Lucas wanting to tell the pilots stories and it's Oscar material. However what I have seen and heard, Lucas approach to the story is all wrong. It's a shame because this could of been something big, instead it's a cheesey Pearl Harbour?
