I'm confused. You make a statement, then say its not true, then say its how you feel, but you know its not true. Huh?

Star Wars is tottaly over hyped and it has been for the last billion years and im sick of reading articles about it. Empire should be more varied to suit all tastes. and come on 30 different covers for 30 years thats taking it toooooooooo far!!!!

Empire is currently watching Star Wars on the office TV.

Who'd have thought it?!

Reading through this thread made me laugh a fair bit although its a bit redundant these days as at least Empire has (seemingly) gotten over its Star Wars fanboy phase. Seriously back then it was friking ridiculous, Star Wars on virtually every cover and hundreds of pointless features.

Also it reminded me of a time when Empire staffers still used to post here in the days before Twitter came along.

What you consider 'ridiculous' and 'pointless' is for some, 'vital'' and 'brilliant'....from a certain point of view!

Stuff like 'What shoes were you wearing the first time you saw Star Wars?' and '100 greatest Star Wars Pez dispensers' (slight exaggeration I know but it was coming to that) don't really constitute good film journalism to me.

Slight exaggeration? That is a gross exaggeration in my view! There are some excellent journalism in the Star Wars feautures which i've enjoyed reading over the year! I can point out quite a few if you want. I remember a piece Empire did in The Attack of the Clones cover, about the making of Empire Strikes back which I thought was excellent (aswell as others). But obviously it is no secret Empire worship or worshipped Star Wars, and so you had features which satisfied the geek in us.

Empire also do a LOT of features on comicbook films. And quite a lot of what you may call 'trivial' facts or other pieces for fanboy's to guzzle up. Does it constitute bad journalism because they put too much effort, time and covers into these film's? In my view, Empire have covered more on comic book films than Star Wars!

There's a big difference between a whole genre of comic book films which number in their dozens if not hundreds and the Star Wars films which constitute a single film series.

I just vomited in my mouth a little. I was an angry annoy self-righteous dick*, though Star Wars is still mostly wank and the coverage was everywhere and there seemed very little else at the time.

I’m still a subscriber too…

*Yes this still relates but I try and keep myself in check.

The fanboy who is sick of Star Wars is sick of life.

(Though, admittedly, unlike me probably does have a life...)
