I'm afraid that's where you're completely wrong. The shop is under no obligation to sell at the price shown and don't need to suffer from eg employee error. The law also used to go on to say that if after proper notification they then continue to display at that price then they are supposed to sell at it. No idea if that part has been changed in the last few years. It's all down to where the contract is made - and it isn't at the shelf, but at the till/payment.

No store, on or offline, is bound by pricing errors. THe real argument I've seen in these kind of things are from stores that do take the payment and the argument has gone on to cover exactly where the offer has been accepted and whether they can legally back out of the contract. There was a massive one about a decade ago with, I think, TVs on a site like Comet, but they did get away with it.

Well thankfully anytime this has happened to my the sale clerk has believed my misconception.

I would argue that this is a must for consumer rights - what's to stop a shop from deliberately "mispricing" items? I imagine if a product was priced 11.99 but then the till said 12.99 most people would pay the extra out of the "Whatever, I've queued for five minutes, just give me the thing" factor.

Hence the addition that once notified they should change. And if it is repeatedly reported to Trading Standards action would be taken (as you might have guessed, I only know this because I was in this position once and after arguing the toss with the sales clerk - who, BTW, wouldn't normally have any say in OKing a different price without the possibility of it being taken out their own wage - I talked to Trading Standards).

Large supermarkets might be happy to lose a few pence because of a wrong tag (Tesco and the like would probably be fine with that) - but they aren't required to. No law is fair if it means a shop losing a fortune because some idiot labeller put a decimal point in the wrong place. Then the law would be balanced much to far in one direction.

This arrived in the mail today. I'm told that Silent Running will be sent out today (steel books went out yesterday), for those of us that have bought directly from MoC.

Apparently Silent Running steelbook is out of stock at Sony Warehouse and they're now all in the shops, so I picked one up. Can't wait for Touch of Evil steelbook!

Over here, in The Netherlands, they do need to sell it at the price that is displayed. The law over here says so. And rightly so, in my book! At least in stores, not sure about online...

Touch of Evil @ dvdbeaver

Touch of Evil @ blu-ray.com

I just saw in my HMV account that my Touch of Evil steelbook was shipped today as well!!!

I watched Silent Running tonight, having only seen it previously once before, and a while ago at that. I'm really impressed with the release; the transfer has a nice level of grain, and the "look" of the film feels spot on. I've only scanned the extras thus far, but they're fairly extensive, leaving a really solid package overall. I was surprised by just how moved I was by the film; it should be ridiculous but its so well done that I practically fell apart during the last five minutes! I'd forgotten just how dark it was too, with the film heading in to some pretty murky areas for a U-rated flick.

the outside is mint. On the inside though, one of the clips that holds the booklet has broken off and on the booklet is a little damaged on the backside...

That's rubbish! - The fact that you've got yours before me not the clip thing.

Mine was dispatched last friday and it still isn't here...hopefully this morning

I had a clip broken on my Edvard Munch case, which is even more annoying since it's a fat case and not easily replaceable (and has a gigantic book in it).

Eureka offered to replace all of the fat cases for the slim lined one last summer, as they're susceptible to cracking in the cold apparently. I think you had to send in the artwork sleeve and they'd send a complete new box out including slimmed down art.

And Touch of Evil still hasn't arrived!

Pre-ordered Punishment Park and Two Lane Blacktop to see what mystery BluRay I'd get. PP came today with Prince Valiant. Never seen it but James Mason's in it and I don't own it so pluses all round.

MoC have just announced their quarter 2 2012 releases. Some amazing stuff in their, including Double Indemnity, The Lost Weekend, Three wartime Hitchcock's headed up by Lifeboat and a bunch of Mizoguchi upgrades. The best news though, is that they've finally acquired the rights to Dreyer's The Passion Of Joan Of Arc. Alas, that won't be ready for some time, but it's encouraging to hear that its coming.

Artwork for the new releases:

Just... WOW....
amazed to see the Wilder titles being released and to see the gorgeous artwork on them. Excellent!

Steelbooks will be available for Island of Lost Souls, Double indemnity , Lost weekend and Lifeboat for those with metal fetishes

Just to clarify. We'll be working on Dreyer's LA PASSION DE JEANNE D'ARC all year. It will *not* be released this Spring. Looking like 2013.

No, it doesn't look bad but it doesn't look great either and films like Double Indemnity and The Lost Weekend should look great.
