I pre-ordered through Amazon 2 days ago and it was £17.99! . I know they do their pre-order guarantee but I've cancelled that and ordered again just to make sure

Have you picked up Colossal Youth yet? I can't recommend it highly enough, it's by far the best standard DVD release I've seen all year. It's so good in fact, that I even bought a full retail copy (I had a check disc for review purposes for work). It's THAT good. The 2 hour documentary by Craig Keller on the second disc is worth the asking price alone. Schloss Vogelod is great too, but rumours persist that that will eventually make its way to Blu-ray (there's no danger of that happening with Colossal Youth due to its SD origins).

Man, don`t be saying that. My wallet`s already hurting enough as it is these months
I own the Criterion box set that has Collosal Youth in it, but is it worth double dipping? have not yet seen the film...

Well, like I say, that Craig Keller documentary is worth the asking price to me, but I guess there's no point upgrading a film that you already own, especially if you haven't seen it yet. But yeah, its a great release.

but I guess there's no point upgrading a film that you already own,

oh yes there are plenty of reasons to do that: better picture quality, better extra`s etc. etc. etc.
I`ll first watch the film and if I like it enough I`ll get the MoC disc

Oh, don't get me wrong, I upgrade all the time, but it was the fact that its a film you own that you haven't actually watched yet that inspired my suggestion that you might want to hold out. Nothing wrong with upgrading for the reasons you mention at all.

I pre-ordered it a few weeks ago at £16.99.  In the order status it still says that price, I take it it changes by the time it's released?

They refund you the difference. I got a refund of 1p the other day because of the price-order guarantee.

Following the recent fire at the Sony DADC facility in London where much of our backcatalogue stock was destroyed (along with that of over a hundred independent cinema and music labels), we will be repressing many of the films in The MoC Series catalogue that previously carried separate Blu-ray and DVD editions. Going forward, the following titles will be available in Dual Format (Blu-ray + DVD) editions exclusively: Sunrise and City Girl by F. W. Murnau; Profound Desires of the Gods and Vengeance Is Mine by Shôhei Imamura; The Burmese Harp by Kon Ichikawa; Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? by Frank Tashlin; La Planète sauvage (aka Fantastic Planet) by René Laloux; For All Mankind by Al Reinert; Tokyo Sonata by Kiyoshi Kurosawa; Mad Detective by Johnnie To and Wai Ka-fai; Une femme mariée by Jean-Luc Godard; The World by Jia Zhangke; Make Way for Tomorrow by Leo McCarey; and M by Fritz Lang

Bought the Special Edition of M today from Amazon as I am not planning on upgrading to Blu-ray, so it would be pointless to have a dual edition.

About those screen grab links I posted a few days ago:

Turns out the TOUCH OF EVIL 'grabs' were not actual BD grabs, they were screengrabs from MPEGStreamClip. Expect even better than that soon!

MoC announced their Spring 2012 line-up today, and its rather exciting.

First up are a couple of Pasolini films. His collaboration with Godard and Rosselini, Ro.Go.Pa.G is also due, but artwork isn't available yet.

Another Leo McCarey follows Make Way For Tomorrow. Looks great -

The next couple of mainstream Universal titles has been announced too. Repo Man includes a 40 page hand drawn booklet from Alex Cox, as well as his notorious directors television cut. -

Monte Hellman's Two-Lane Blacktop is also set for release. Both this and Repo Man are being given steel book releases too.

Another Imamura -

And here's a couple of upgrades.

Ro.Go.Pa.G was a collaboration between Godard, Pasolini, Rosselini and the Italian filmmaker Ugo Gregoretti. Its an anthology film, with all four of the directors each directing a short. I'm not sure if you own it, but the Pasolini segment is on the Criterion release of Mamma Roma, and stars Orson Welles as a director attempting to stage The Passion. In my opinion its the best thing Pasolini ever did.

Oh, and the title comes from the names of the directors -

Ro (sselini)
Go (dard)
Pa (solini)
G (regoretti)

Those are some amazing titles, has it ever been a better time being a film fan with these releases? Its interesting that home cinema is going from strength to strength yet cinemas are dying on their arse ( in my area anyway, still five showings a day of The Inbetweeners, yet Tinker has gone already - anyway that's for another thread).

I watched Harakiri a few nights back.... Magnificent film.

Ok thanks for the info. I knew it was a collaboration between the 4 of them but didn`t know what it was about.
Sounds really interesting, and I don`t have the Criterion of Mama Roma so I haven`t seen that short either.
Looking forward to that

I don't know why they can get away with it. If I go into a shop it is the law that they have to sell me the item at the price displayed.
