Agreed. And if we aren't meant to be familiar with the films then where is "The Lady From Shanghai"? And why is "Casablanca" on the list if it's meant to be unfamiliar? And "To Kill A Mockingbird"?

Good list. But there were a couple of the good ones missing.
It might have slipped past me i dont know but wheres On the Waterfront?? or Modern Times?? Rebel Without A Cause?? Citizen Kane??? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but these are classics and shouldnt be missed by anyone.

Happy to say I've seen 80% of the films on the list. Hard to be objective when it comes to what you think are the best of all time. I certainly wouldn't have included Ben Hur - too long and far too sanctimonious for my taste. Certainly agree with Singin' In The Rain, but how about The Band Wagon? In my view, it's every bit as good. And what about Les Enfants Du Paradis, Belle De Jour, Jour De Fete, M, Touch of Evil and Shoeshine? Maybe 100 just isn't enough - take the lead from 1001 Fims You Must See Before You Die. And even then I thought there were some glaring omissions. I guess it holds true that one man's masterpiece is another's piece of crap.

Hi I'm new here... Great list... but the spaghetti western is not my cup of tea... so Iwould not have included them... and where is War of the Worlds

I've seen 45 of them... I need to get a move on....
