Have people been catching "The Daily show" on Comedy Central?

Heres a thread to post your links or comment on the smartest American News satire show, or comment on the issuse raised.

starting off with a Interview with Kermit...maybe not the best example to start with but check out this YouTube link until i post better ones.

Very funny although I prefer Brass Eye for satirical news.

Yeah. Got both Brass Eye and The Day Today on DVD. I'm pretty sure they are around on YouTube.

The video game one was great, the House of representives seems like a great place "im a video game man i play pong" um..when? 1987?

Samantha Bee is not funny compared to Ed helms he's is very good, at twisting people in on themselves and making them say what he wants them to say (in a brass eye kind of way)

So you guys like The Daily Show, huh? Have you read Jon Stewart's book America: A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction (spelling intentional)?

This is the most satirical book that I have ever seen. I guess you have to be an American, and know a lot about American history & government to fully appreciate it.

The book mocks just about everything, but it also gives an accurate view of American history & politics.

The book itself is a satirization of American High School  textbooks.

By the way, you should check out The Daily Show's spin-off The Colbert Report.

Stephen Colbert was one of The Daily Show's correspondents.

I started a thread about it a while back.

The Wire is surely the best TV show ever broadcast in America. This claim isn't based on my having seen all the possible rivals for the title, but on the premise that no other program has ever done anything remotely like what this one does, namely to portray the social, political, and economic life of an American city with the scope, observational precision, and moral vision of great literature.

The Wire has never won an emmy? [It] deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!

I like the Daily Show, but don't get to see it as often as I would like. Jon Stewart is very funny, but I'm not always as keen on some of the reports by other people.

I bought the book when it first came out in the US. It is very funny and actually very informative (for somone like me who was not totally familiar with the American political and legal system). It looks very smart as well: great coffee-table book.

Looked at it the other day. But for cynicism in print look no further than 'It It Just Me Or Is Everything Shit?'

Yeah, it's mostly the CDs transcribed, but there's a load of articles about him, a couple of unrecorded shows and a few of his essays.

I've got that. I enjoyed it at first, but then found some of the entries rather tedious and long-winded. Stewart's book is funny all the way through

I read it as a 'coffee-table book' and only small amounts at a time so maybe that's why I found it to be funny throughout it's entirety. Surprisingly, it stood up well to repeat readings.

I got it for Christmas. It's good, it's better than the Cynthia True biography, which is still good, but Booth was there for all of it. His last few years are really interesting, like when Booth and Hicks went out to the Waco siege. I'd say you'd enjoy it, plus you can pick it up pretty cheaply as well.

Yeah, I think it just got another print. Running low on funds at the moment but I've been looking at it for a while. Sick of getting kicked out of 'Waterstones.'

I think the problem is with The Daily Show is like as has been said is that some of the cast are quite weak...Samantha Bee.

I think that Samantha Bee is definitely weaker than the other correspondents, but she can still make me laugh. Besides, I think that the best parts of The Daily Show are Jon Stewart's little observations of the media and politicians. The other stuff is great too, but that's not the main reason I tune in to this show.

And I was disappointed when Colbert left. The guy's a genius. But I've seen some Colbert Report clips and they're great, he plays a right-wing neocon pundit on that show.

There should be a clip here of his speech at a white house reception, I've only read some transcripts, he gives alot of people a real roasting.

I love the episode of the Daily Show after Cheney shoots the guy, pure comic brilliance, the reporter in the White House press room with teh shit eating smile saying "we got him", classic comedy! Kicks Brass Eyes ring imo, but then its only an opinion!
