BTW this may have been sorted out earlier, but I watched The Day of the Doctor again last night and was wondering... during the Fall of Arcadia, why do we not see Time Lords regenerating left, right and centre?

I am sure not every Gallifreyan will be a Time Lord, be even still....

The Daleks shoot each one of them lots and lots of times I am sure.

Hmmmnn. Not convinced!

Either an oversight or it just means not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords, in my opinion. But wondered if anyone has ever found anything a bit more concrete in terms of DVD extras and such.

BTW on a slightly different Doctor Who topic, I read The Writer's Tale and found it extremely interesting. RTD does come across as a bit of a crackpot and spouts some utter BS in his email correspondence with the journalist, but he loved the show and overall I thought he did an excellent job.

Steven Moffat was superb at writing individual episodes, but I do feel he has lost his way slightly and that Matt Smith didn't get the stories he deserved. The opening episode, "The Eleventh Hour" was brilliant. I had high hopes, but it just hasn't been as entertaining or as dramatic as David Tennant and RTD.

But I do think that Moffat cannot miss with Peter Capaldi in the role. He will bring something different. And I do like the Paternoster Gang. I wish Strax would become a permanent companion as he is hilarious.

I'm kind of intrigued - I read a review of Line of Duty (which I've got saved on Sky plus) from someone who pretty much feels exactly the same as me about her acting and he was impressed. Like me, he actually didn't mind her in The Ambassadors last year. So you never know.

Only thing I'd say is that the character looks pretty much exactly like Sarah Lancashire's.

This is the best Dr Who news I read yesterday though - Horror Channel have picked up Classic Who for broadcast (given the Beeb rarely bother). http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s7/doctor-who/news/a557370/classic-doctor-who-episodes-to-air-on-horror-channel.html

She does look like Miss Foster... so is she gonna be a female Master or even The Rani?

Who knows eh?

Yes glad Horror Channel are showing old Who... I've got Watch on series link but starting to get a bit tired of the same episodes over and over. Maybe time to dig out The Key to Time boxset or even the E-space trilogy. Oh how I loved the Tom Baker era!

In saying that I do love the series since it came back. It has made Doctor Who cool again and cemented its place among British culture. Amazing to think we are 7 years in to the revival when the old series last for 26 years, so we are already 27% of the way there in emulating the original run, which is quite something.

Long live Doctor Who!

Paul McGann recently gave his thoughts on another live-action appearance for the Eighth Doctor:

"If the same thing were to happen again and Moffat were to say 'Would you come back and do it and I'll write it?' Why wouldn't I want to do it? If it's going to be that quality, why wouldn't you want to do it?"

"There's always all kinds of rumours. Doctor Who is like a rumour mill, isn't it? 'Yeah, McGann is gonna do this, Matt is gonna do that, there's going to be a spin-off, blah blah blah'. Of course it's all b****cks because it's Moffat who decides what they're going to do next. And of course, now you've got a new Doctor in Peter Capaldi - I think it's only fair that he gets a decent run on his own without any distractions so he gets his feet under the table."

Keeled Hawes could be interesting or just really bloody annoying. I agree that Smith didn't always get the stories his performances deserved. I felt he was really outstanding in his final series, his acting in the Rings of Akhaten was mesmerising. You felt he really was 900+ year old man having seen every horror/wonder he described. I have high hopes of Capaldi; not overstruck on his outfit but he is a quality actor

Yes I really liked Matt Smith in The Eleventh Hour but he didn't get the stories to help him out.

Adric. He really was annoying.

Ah the end of Logopolis and The Watcher... I remember as a young kid thinking it really was like the end of the world when Tom Baker turned into Peter Davidson.

shame that c baker's appearance in 'androzani' after davison was the beginining of the end for classic 'who'.

OK, either someone sneaked a video camera onto the set or this is a leaked-teaser from the BBC... whatever, rubbish sound quality, but worth a watch...
