It's one of my favourites now too, after The Empty Child. My friend has just disowned me for buying the boxset. She thinks I should spend my money on more important things. I suppose I should start buying books for uni....

Followed by the equally brilliant Inferno.

Which is nice.

Cool. Anyone remember the omnibus old episodes that used to be shown on BBC2 on a Sunday morning? They were initially repeated to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the show in 1993 and went on for a few years. Why can't they do that again?

Hmm, well structured argument - check.  well reasoned points - check.  eloquently put - check.  how can i possibly compete with that?

uh - why go away?  surely at worst i was expressing my opinion?

I would construct an argument in my defence but I can't be arsed. Especially since you gave no reasons for your opinon in the first place. Peace.

fair enough - i can live with that.  had i been expecting a debate then i'd have explained my statement but it was simply an observation

The best thing about them showing Baker episodes is that they'll soon be onto the McCoy ones..

For me it all went down hill after Peter Davidson and then came back in force with Christopher Eccelston. Slyvestor McCoy wasn't even The Docotr anymore it was "The Professor"...bollocks.

Er, McCoy was still the Doctor, "Professor" was just Ace's nickname for him.

10/04/06 according to play.com.

That's the date that's in the Press Release for the DVD as well (the page also contains details of the extras on the 2 disc release).

I just had a look on play.com, it looks like it could be worth buying just for the commentary alone...

"Commentary with Tom Baker, Elisabeth Sladen, Peter Miles (Nyder) and director David Maloney"

I think I can safely say I will be buying this.

Am I alone or is this series one of the better reasons to look forward to spring already?

The new series was just fantastic - I have the TARDIS boxset at home and I just love it! I don't know any of the old doctors, but I'll go to HMV and Forbidden Planet next week to buy some DVDs of the old ones. Now it would be really helpful if you could recommend DVDs /episodes / doctors to me.
Most of you seem to know the old series quite well, so any help will be appreciated.

That, and V For Vendetta and the new Red Hot Chilli Peppers album.

All the Doctors have their good points, even Colin Baker.

I'll give you a suggestion for each Doc:

The 1st Doctor: The Aztecs (Nice historical one)
The 2nd Doctor: Tomb of The Cybermen (Nice Cyberman one, plus the source of my avatar)
The 3rd Doctor: Spearhead From Space (Nice post-regeneration one)
The 4th Doctor: Pyramids of Mars (Nice historical 'Lets save the universe' one.)
The 5th Doctor: The Caves of Androzani (Nice 'Possibly greatest of all' one)
The 6th Doctor: Vengeance On Varos (Nice 'One of Colins 2 decent stories' one)
The 7th Doctor: The Curse Of Fenric (Another nice historical 'Lets save the universe' one)

I'd avoid The Web Planet.

All available on DVD. Hooray!

or alternatively

Doc 1; Dalek Invasion of Earth (Excellently realised invasion tale)
Doc 2; The Mind Robber (Jigsaw puzzle hilarity ensues)
Doc 3; Agree with Dick Jones on this one actually.
Doc 4; Talons of Weng Chaing (Superb Sherlock Holmes type mystery)
Doc 5; Earthshock (Mystery (ahem) bad guys and death of  annoying character, yay)
Doc 6;......I'm sorry I just can't do it they're all rubbish!
Doc 7; Ghost Light (God knows what it's all about but enjoyable nevertheless).
