IGN spoiled it for me.

It was 'Wanna see the ___________' with a great big honking picture of it BEFORE you clicked any link.

I supposed the fault lies with the beeb press office in the end. I thought after reading the hint in the Radio Times that it was going to be kept as a wee treat for the Christmas Special. Obviously not.

Doesn't bother me too much, assuming we're talking about the same thing, but the surprise would have been nice.

Would it be what spark has just spoiled for me with his link by any chance?

Indeed.

Spaces aren't worth much if you don't say why Spark - it is very easy to do what I've just done and hide a link that has a spoiler contained in it. We've been very clear in asking that posters in this thread respect that rule.

i posted the link but it was up to you to click on it.

the only spoilers that would piss me off are actual plot details/twist being put out, as with the soaps in the tabs.
i would have hated it they gave away the twist for 'utopia', 'army of ghosts' or 'journey's end'
i have never done that and never will.

Bully for you, but that's not how we define spoilers on the site. The link you posted above gave details of what you were clicking too. That comes under normal spoiler rules as we have made clear in the past.

It's the work of a second not to do that (as I demonstrated in your post) and show some consideration to other users - we'd ask, again, that you remember that.

The spoiler was in the text of the link and unmissable.

I find it hard to believe you don't seem to know how to disguise your links by now considering that about 90% of your posts are hyperlinking elsewhere.

They can discuss it with the spoilers in here - everyone else does by showing courtesy to other users and using spoiler tags, hidden links and/or inviso text - all clearly outlined. It's not difficult.

This has probably been posted and discussed before, but End of Time was on TV this morning (hacked to pieces, but the highlights were intact). I never noticed this before, but when the woman that everyone thinks is the Docs Mum reveals her face, I'm pretty sure that's Roses theme that starts playing...!

For some reason the Christmas specials seem to always foreground the things about the show I find the lamest.

Utter crap is too strong a way to describe what I have seen thus far of the special but special it is not.

I loved it. The Christmas episodes are always light stuff - my family don't watch the regular show so the final five minutes confused them (up to that point they were pretty engaged with it).

Evil snowmen, McKellen, Strax, Clara etc and so on. It had loads going for it - the Mary Poppins/Holmes nods and winks.

I would say it was a top tier special - far far better than last years effort.

Really enjoyed that. Possibly because it wasn't trying too hard to cram in the Christmas event feel and was really just a straight set up for the upcoming season. Particularly liked Strax as a companion.

Gona say Clara is something Timelord related. A being that can travel through space and time and can die but still live. That is pretty much the Doctor, right?

Really enjoyed that. One of the most enjoyable Christmas episodes so far. Really liking Clara/Oswin so far. Witty, flirty, extremely sexy.... just the type of thing I want from a companion.

Although that said, I fully support a regular slot for Strax.

Something like "if you try to escape you will be destroyed!"

Can I say as well the production values are amazing - hard to tell the Christmas Invasion and this are from the same series.

Thought it was great. So much better than last year's special. I'm looking forward to having Clara as a regular companion, she's a great character and I'm interested in what's up with all the different versions of her. And I also hope we get more Strax. He almost ran away with the episode.

Some interesting stuff in the next time trailer too. Particularly the new Cybermen and Liam Cunningham - he's someone I've wanted in the show for a while now.

Best Christmas episode of the modern era IMO. The Sherlock gag was great! Richard E was underused but the ending is intriguing as hell. We have a new Rory!

Oh my God, they killed Clara! You bastards.

I really liked the Game of Thrones reference. What's the significance of 1967 to the London Underground. All I can find is http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground_1967_Stock
