Possible spoilers based on rumour followed by wild speculation 
 Over on Den of Geek there's an article saying that David Tennant is onboard for the 50th Anniversary. So if we assume that this is true and that it's just Tennant and knowing Moffat's obvious affection for Melody Pond... I reckon the Anniversary will be Smith overlapping Tennant and resolving the situation with River in the Library.  

What do you reckon?

I've never got into audio, but Dark Eyes looks tempting.

Eighth Doctor is brilliant, everyone should listen to the audios especially Eight because McGann is superb even if his companions are annoying every now and then.

They're perhaps planning a regeneration story and getting the costume for the 'darker, angrier, doctorer, tragic-er' doctor sorted because PM's Doctor is about to start going through the things the character was reeling from at the time the TV show restarted? Prepping for a planned de-generation perhaps, in the 50th Anniversary to have a CE look-a-like momentarily glimpsed before time for the character's body is somehow rewound to PM's Doctor to get over a CE no show? PM's Doc de-aged with no knowledge of what he has yet to do in the time war to give different characterisations as much as possible for Multi-Doctor 50th Anniversary tale

Just goes to show, one photo = interminable speculative guff
