I think your suspicions may be correct!

Don't ask me it was the none sober Dozy who wrote that post. Completely different kettle of fish to this one who apologises on Drunken Dozys behalf for calling you a nerd.

That was pretty cool. Is the only radio station that works on my computer at work...dare I say I'd prefer radio 2?! But still rather entertaining!!

Wasn't it a discussion about consequences of the twin history of the Daleks? Which was instigated by the events of Genesis of the Daleks. Or was it about how David Tennant must be like Sly McCoy because he's Scottish?Either way I'm seriously considering changing my name to Nigel.

I remember a reviewer saying Tennant was this generation's Troughton following Ecclestone's Hartnell due to his quirkiness following a previous gruffness. I have to agree: Tennant is now probably my second favourite following Baker.

As for the Daleks, does anyone here hope they never come back? I understand the whole franchise popularity and all, but storyline wise the Dalek Empire is gone: the Timelords have won. It's like making another LOTR or Star Wars after the Return of the King or Darth Vader's death.

A large part of me thinks that they should move away from the Daleks now. RTD even said that Tennant's Doctor will be a little more cheerful because he now has now finally finished the Time Lord's quest to destroy the Daleks while Ecceston's Docotor had that whole shadow hanging over him. For The Docotr now the battle is finally over he can lay to rest his demons about then death of his race and carry on enjoying his life.
That said the Daleks are so cool that part of me will always be excited to see them again. The daleks in the future may have been destroyed, preventing them ever returning after that point in time. But there's no reason why The Doctor might not encounter them whilst travelling in the time when they still existed. The Sun paper keeps on saying that Series 2 finale will end in a cliffhanger battle between the Cybermen and the Daleks but if you believed everything they print then you'd probably believe the Earth was flat.

Is the Earth not flat?

Dozy - You spoke to The Tommy Boyd? Magpie...memories...

I like The Daleks and they are a huge part of Doctor Who..be good to see The Cybermen..and if it is true what The Sun has claimed about a Cybermen Vs Daleks series finale, then great!

I did read somewhere that Tennant's Doctor would, at some point, do battle with the Daleks but that it wouldn't be happening in the second series. That was before they had finished writing or filming the series though so I don't know how accurate it is.

When I listened to the commentary that was available for The Christmas Invasion, at the end when the preview for the new series is playing RTD says which clip comes from which numbered episode and I'm sure that none of them were any later than episode 6 so I think it's unlikely that the Cybermen would reappear in the series finale. However, if the Sun is right (again..the likeliness of this is not high) then it wouldn't surprise me if they had something like the Doctor doing battle with the Cybermen and the cliffhanger being the reappearance of the Daleks. I'm just guessing, but I think it would be a good way to end the series and leave you waiting for the next one...also throws up the possibility of a Dalek/Cybermen Christmas special. Jesus, I'm good. Oi, Russell, if you want someone to sort out your storylines and scheduling then just send me an email okay?

I seem to remember reading that Terry Nation (Dalek writer/owner of rights) always blocked Daleks V Cybermen stories when they were suggested to him by the shows producers.

He's dead now, but it was apparantly quite difficult to get his family/estate/whoever to agree to allow use of the Daleks in the new show. Dunno if they would approve of a 'DVC' story. Will be cool if they have.

I have to admit, I don't really go for the idea of a straight Daleks vs Cybermen storyline but I do think it would be good if it was a three way thing where they just happen to be in the same place at the same time with the Doctor. As long as it is written well and not in a corny way I think it could work.

Chav? Unless there's a deleted scene or something, I don't remember Rose huddling in the corner drinking a bottle of White Lightning or beating up pensioners.

I don't know why I'm laughing, that would be the worst thing ever.

Bought myself the TARDIS boxset today, so I'm all pleased. I finally got to see Father's Day which I missed first time around.
