A gem of a thriller on tomorrow night THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL (1978) 10.50 BBC 2,if you haven't seen it,it's a must see,and if you have sure it's to good to miss, unless your watching the highlights of the FA cup final? The plot simple J.Mengele(Peck) is out to clone Hitler and save the Aryan race.Nazi hunter Olivier is out to stop him and theres also James Mason for good measure. And a great scene involving Doberman dogs?

Another Bank Holiday weekend, which is looking like it will be a wash-out, so stay in and watch a movie.

New listing on page one. Enjoy!

Nice one, I have been eagerly waiting for Film4 to show Scenes From A Marriage again since I watched it when it was on a few months ago. Brilliant film.

Also particularly looking forward to The Wild One, Saving Private Ryan, The Hustler, Apocolypse Now (this seems to be on every week!).

Really handy list, thanks wrenster! There's a few I've never seen like Short Cuts that I'll try to catch. The Station Agent on Saturday is one I'd definitely recommend.

As you know, I get the list in over a week before and on the odd occasion there maybe a change or addition to the lists that i might have missed. One such missed movie is on tonight at 9pm on ITV1. Another chance to see Ocean's Eleven.

Well let's face it. It will be shown again and again again on either ITV1 or 2 in the not-too-distant future.

Enjoy!

But how bad is the quality of the film stock? Looks like they've used the same stock they use for Inspector Morse.

It's great that ITV had the idea of showing the Lethal Weapon series over the last few weeks, but why the hell did they decide to miss out number 2? It's so stupid because it would have been brilliant to get to see all 4 (never seen them) in a row, yet they don't work out that I might want to see the part in between numbers 1 and 3?

Other than that, great week!

The reason being is that Channel 4 have the rights for Lethal Weapon 2. It was shown only a few weeks ago. Don't ask me how they have managed to just have that one, unless it was part of a package deal with Warner Bros.

The TV companies, when they are after certain films to be shown, have to buy a package of movies. So, say Channel 4 wanted to show, say Tim Burton's Charlie And the Chocolate Factory, then they will have to buy a whole batch of movies from the same studio. Hence the reason why ITV show the same movies over and over again, just so they can show the movies they want. (Having recently purchased Bridget Jones: Edge Of Reason, they now have most of the Universal/Working Title movies on ITV. Thunderbirds hits the screens in a few weeks...part of that same package).

Hopefully that has explained it. Still not sure how Lethal Weapon 2 slipped through ITVs fingers, but its bound to pop up on your favourite channel in the not to distant future.

I think the Melville week on Film Four may well be the best thing they have done so far, bar the Miyazaki season. For once I think Ill be watching a film on there everyday this week.

If you haven't seen Le Doulos you really don't want to miss that either.

Just read that MoC's release of Melville's Le Silence de la mer is ready well ahead of schedule and entering distribution today,so I should get to see some new Melville myself next week.

Yeah I imagined it must be something to do with rights and what have you, it just seems strange, as you say, that ITV would have the rights to 1,3 and 4 without getting 2. Also annoying that Channel 4 showed number 2 before ITV showed number 1 as I didn't bother with it because of not having seen the original. To be honest, I probably shouldn't worry since most of them are supposedly crap after the original!

What a week! A new Prime Minister. Half the country under water (and my thoughts go to those who are suffering). The Spice Girls getting back. And it's only Friday. Which means only one thing...

A new listing on page one!

Enjoy!

What a week! Requiem for a Dream, A Clockwork Orange, Persona, Great Expectations, All the President's Men, The Hustler, Elephant Man... and they're just the ones that I LOVE, there's plenty more good films in the mix.

Oh dear.

Watched The Forgotten tonight.  I hadn't bothered seeing it at the cinema as it looked like your average horror/thriller and didn't think it was worth the effort.

And I was really right.  This was truly appalling - it starts off not so bad going the route you'd expect it to take, and then it just gets really silly and offers no explanation for the silliness.

What a rubbish movie!

Don't say I didn't warn you.

The DVD does have an alternative ending that is slightly better but it still doesn't hide the fact that Julianne Moore must have needed the money to sign up for this.

ITV cancelled Die Hard 2 last night because of the terrorist attacks (airports and all that). Bit of a pain really!
