Hey, Wrenster, thanks again. Some superb films for me to catch. But my TV Guide and the Sky listings both say that Sullivan's Travels isn't on. Uncle Silas is in that slot. Bit annoying, as I was looking forward to it...

would be nice if they actually showed another hallloween film for a change!! while halloween 8 isnt great. it has some nice ideas that have probably been used better since. but it's main problem is the film is basically 90 minutes of the last 10 of the original. when theyre stuck in a house theres not alot of room for scope.

If there are some mistakes, it's because I get the listings on the Friday before (hence next week's listing I already have), so there are bound to be some errors or last minute changes.

I'm quite surprised there aren't more so, and most of the companies keep to their screenings. I have noticed that Film4 do seem to change their titles at the last minute, for example, they stated they were screening the original of Heaven Can Wait, and yet it was the Warren Beatty remake.

So I apologise and will look into it for you.

I have checked on the Film 4 listing site and yes, Sullivan's Travels has been removed and Uncle Silas is being screened. However, it will be screened in the not-too-distant future.

I dont wish to be an anal bastard, but youve written Internal Affairs instead of Infernal.
Good line up of films this week and will definately try to watch the IA Trilogy, despite the ridiculous showing times.

Let me give you a word of warning. I have just received the listings for next week, and if you thought this week was good...just you wait. (There maybe at least three films of the week!)

Where do you get your listings from? I thought TV listings were released for the next week on Tuesdays.

I have connections in very low places. They are sent to me on a Friday (which is why there maybe changes at the last minute)

SCUM 10pm ITV4 *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*
Tough and brutally violent examination of life in a British borstal, with a very young Ray Winstone playing a new arrival who has to face violent staff and having to prove that he is the daddy. Unsettling and disturbing, this hasn't lost any of its power over the years and still manages to shock. A powerhouse of a movie.

MALLRATS 10.45pm Film4 *RECOMMENDED*
Kevin Smith's follow-up to Clerks hangs on a very thin plot. Two friends find they have both been dumped by their girlfriends on the same day, so they decide to go to the local mall to hang out. It's the characters and situations in the mall that are the driving force behind the movie, and while the cast, including Jason Lee, Ben Affleck and Shannen Doherty all do well, it doesn't have the same magic that Clerks has. Fans of Smith will enjoy.

NATURAL BORN KILLERS 12midnight Channel 4 *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*
Oliver Stone's controversial film version of a story by Quentin Tarantino, with Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis as a couple on a murder spree, who become celebrities for a mad media hungry reporter. Visually stunning with a good use of effects, but a brutal tale that concentrates on the media's obsession with violence. Not for everyone but you have to admire the skill in which it is made.

Aaaaahhhh, why do they all have to be on the same day near the same time, what should I choose?

Having done this listing for nearly a year now (is it really that long) I can assure you that Mallrats will be screened again on Film4 (in fact I think it's on again next week. I will check it out and let you know). And the way that ITV's satelitte channels work is they will screen certain movies again and again and again, so I'm sure Scum will re-appear soon.

As for Natural Born Killers? If Channel 4 have it, then it will pop up either on Film4, More4 or E4...or even in the early hours on Channel 4)

So I would suggest catching Scum (as it is on for two hours) and switching over to Natural Born Killers, saving Mallrats for another day.

Thanks Wrenster. I think I will be recording Touching the Void and Days of Thunder this week. I wish I could work out how to record of Freeview channels, they seem to be getting really good films more and more often.

Do you know when the Christmas TV listings are set to be released? I thought it was usually early-ish December, if so it's not long! (It's one of the best bits of christmas!)

TWO LANE BLACKTOP 12.55am Film4 *RECOMMENDED*
The cult road movie gets a rare airing, in which two drag racers travel across America in their supped-up Chevy, in search of others to race. Monte Hellman's film may be thin on plot but high on the driving scenes and with a cast including Warren Oates and Harry Dean Stanton, this is one of those movies that will fascinate those who love their cult movies really cultish.

BEWARE, MY LOVELY 4.45pm More4
Suspense filled thriller with Ida Lupino as a lonely widow who hires a handyman, not knowing that he is a psychopath. Robert Ryan plays the killer in a sometimes tense film noir with a nice twist at the end.

THE BIGAMIST 4.35pm More4
A couple want to have a baby, but find they have to adopt instead. The adoption agency find that the man has a secret, and wants to know why he keeps travelling from LA to San Francisco a lot. Ida Lupino stars and directs this odd but enjoyable drama with a good cast including Joan Fontaine and Edmond O'Brien.

THE SEA HAWK 1.10pm BBC2
Rip-roaring swashbuckling adventure with Errol Flynn as a man ordered by Queen Elizabeth I to persuade the Spanish Armada to attack England. The sword-play is spectacular and the whole thing is a riot from start to finish. Terrific fun, and Flynn at his finest.

THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR
4.10pm Film4
Ultra-cool heist movie with Steve McQueen as a wealthy man who enjoys a little robbery or two to keep him happy. But when insurance investigator Faye Dunaway starts looking into his secret, can she stop him? Or will love take over. Norman Jewison directs this stylish thriller that may be dated now, but is still a sophisticated piece of cinema. And then there's that chess scene.

NEAR DARK 1.10am Sci-Fi
A young man meets a girl and she persuades him to join her family on a journey across the deserts of America, not knowing that the family in question are vampires. A dark, brooding horror flick from Kathryn Bigalow, with a good cast including Bill Paxton. Very underrated and should be rediscovered. Coming out the same time as The Lost Boys, this is a far better movie.

They're my picks. It looks like a really good week actually.

Oh. And The Parallax View is a zillion times better as a conspiracy thriller than "the film of the week" The Insider.

GOZU
1am Film4
Fans of Takashi Miike's ending of Audition will relish the over-the-top gore fest that this little seen movie offers. A man is sent to execute a fellow gangster after his boss has decided that his violent temperament is too much for his gang. The film if extreme to the max, with the violence becoming more inventive and outrageous as it continues. But this is the film's downfall, and what we end up with is a mass of blood and nothing much else. Disappointing considering his past record.

Has someone been watching the wrong film? There's hardly any gore at all in this movie? There's lactating nipples, a cow's head, a slimy full sized adult birth scene, but hardly any gore whatsoever.

Masses of blood? This film has not been watched I tell thee!!!!

Obviously I cannot see every film that is on, so I have a couple of people that I call upon to help out, and they send me the reviews, so  I will have to have words with the individual in question.

So as not to mislead anyone, would you like to do a review and I will print it on the site.
