A weekend of England playing in major sporting events may be the focal point but it still means loads of movies being shown

The listing is on page one now.

Enjoy.

Just to let you know, the 'Spellbound' that was showing on Film 4 today wasn't the Hitchcock film, but was a documentary on a Spelling Bee contest. Shame, I was looking forward to the Hitchcock one.....

Thanks for that, jamesbondguy. As I get the listings a week in advance, there maybe changes to what I am sent.

Sorry if I misled you into believing it was the Hitchcock version, but it usually is that one. Anyway, the documentary isn't a bad film either.

Top stuff, as always. Grace of my Heart and Tapeheads are my two curio-picks for the week, but there's a heap of good stuff on besides them.

Funnily enough, I watched all eight Halloween films this week. A gruelling experience that is the movie equivalent of an all night wank-fest. You start of all ready to go and the the first release is bloody sensational. The next three you knock out are just enough to satisfy to there's a definite sense that the well is running dry. By the time you finally dribble to a close you just feel bored, tired, frustrated and like you've been kicked in the bollocks by Busta Rhymes for 90 minutes solid.

Anyway!!!

Season Of The Witch really shouldn't have been included in the Halloween series though. It is a bit dodgy in places but it has enough merit to have deserved a release on its own back without being lumped in with the Michael Myers slashers... And the end is spectacularly bleak!!!

"Stop it, please, for God's sake, please stop it. There's no more time. Please stop it. Stop it now. Turn it off! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! STOP IT!!!!!"

There are eight Halloween films?!? I had no idea.

I read something somewhere recently that said Halloween H2O was an excellent modern take on the franchise... Personally I thought it lacked a lot and wondered if the reviewer had even seen any of the others.

Anyway I note that 10 Things I Hate About You is on this Wednesday. Damn, damn, damn, damn. I love this film. It's no cinematic great but it's good entertainment. Shame my Wednesdays are so chocka but I am hoping ITV will repeat it on one of their many channels.

When i watched H20 i thought it was because they had made 20 sequels it certainly felt like it!

I thought it was an ok stripped down horror that should have ended the franchise with a bang, sadly that was not the case. i think the remakes and continuing films lessen the impact, but the original still packs a punch.

Trust me, 10 Things gets shown plenty of times across the ITV network. As do all of their films. You might be able to catch it on Tuesday night, very late. They tend to show their early evening films late the night before. The only reason I don't put that down is because the page would end up being filled with repeat screenings.

A very strong week of movies on the old square things. Plenty of good choices.

New listing is on page one.

Enjoy

P.S: Sledge Hammer, if you have satelitte, then best keep your eyes on either the Sci-Fi channel or some of the lesser movie channels for Trancers (unless BBC decide to go back and show cult movies again, the chances of it being screened are slim). But if it does pop up, you will be the first to know.

Merry Christmas to you too Wrenster, and thanks alot for that, even more than usual. I've listed out all the things I want to watch and I can't believe I'm considering getting up at 6am a few days on the bounce to watch some of the Studio Ghibli I've not seen  might have to set the Sky +!

Wow, theres a lot of good films on this New Years...I think Im spoilt for choice. Its also a chance to catch up with my most shameful film omission of Singin' in the Rain!

Also, for those who have expressed interest in seeing it, Build My Gallows High on New Years Day is actually better known as Out of the Past.
