I think this could be good; although i enjoyed the first one, it could've been much better.  A better bad guy than the Absorbing Man would be a good start.

You have to wonder what is going on with Marvel. They seem hell bent on ruining their own franchises.
It was bad enough that they screwed up the X-Men franchise so badly. Yes, The Last Stand made a lot of money but the film was so bad that a fourth is unlikely, they have even said as much themselves, but now they seem to want to shoot themselves in the foot further by giving Hulk a crap director and lacklustre writer, this will probably be a financial success but be laughed out of the cinema by anyone with a brain.
This looks like it is going to be a piece of crap to go along with the likes of Daredevil, Electra, Fantastic Four and X3. You have to wonder does anybody at Marvel actually care about the quality of the films representing their characters.
Ghost Rider looks like it is going to be another entry in their dire canon of crap superhero films.
You would think they would have something resembling professional pride, DC must be loving all of this because right now they are kicking their asses.
Batman Begins and Superman Returns may not be flawless but they are made by talented people who are trying to make the best possible film they can and are not taking their audience for granted.
I shudder to think who will be directing the fourth Spider-Man film the way Marvel are going - no doubt Avi Arad will be looking for Paul WS Anderson's phone number.

the best place to take the story imho is the story where betty is killed by gamma radiation poisoning and everyone blames him, but he goes on the search to find her real killer.

The first one was bad enough, do we really need a sequel?

Hulk is one of the great comic book characters and even the the first film was way too 'arty' I feel that he deserves a 2nd big budget outing!!! However I also feel that a Daredevil sequel should also be on the cards as the movie was extremely underated especially the directors cut which received a 4 star review from the peeps at empire!!! How about this for an idea : HULK Vs DAREDEVIL!!! A classic marvel story which would prob set the screen alight vwith the possibilities!!!! come Avi give it to us, you know you want to!!!!

The director of Transporter 2 and the writer of X-Men 3??? After the debacle that was The Last Stand this is adding insult to injury. I know I've defended the choice of Michael Bay for Transformers here recently, but I have to admit I'm feeling uneasy about that now too and things are not looking good for Spidey 4. Comics are not just trash - they can entertain AND be dramatic, character driven, awe inspiring, and occasionally profound. Surely the whole point of having these iconic superheroes is that the piece is character based, not some hacks cash in that got made against future DVD sales (some piece of shit vanilla disk that comes out three months after the film, probably). These stories demand the proper treatment. We, the fans, demand more than the feckless rubbish they are churning out.

Help us, Bryan Singer/Sam Raimi/Christopher Nolan - you are our only hope...

I think Marvel are rapidly losing thier way and as a result, if they keep putting out crap like Fantastic Four & Puniser, the comic movie bubble will burst sooner than many think. Why not concentrate on decent output? From what I've heard about the upcomming IronMan movie it sounds like thier rushing it and going for cheap writers and directors etc. This seems a shame when the likes of Tom Cruise expressed an interest in the project originally and al the quality a star of his magnitude would've brought to the project. Think quality over quantity. I'd like to see an Avengers movie

The Hulk is one of my favourite comic book characters. Now Ang Lee's film was flawed: but it was intelligent and certainly featured superb imagery and a sympathetic Eric Bana.

I have not seen Transporter 2 nor Unleashed, so I cannot comment on Leterrier: but this may been an indication that they've gone too far to appeal to a modern audience. Look at Nolan or Singer: they juggle it perfectly with seriousness and fun.

I did not mind Zak Penn's work on X3: the ideas of that script and the performances in that film elevate it from Brett Ratner's unsure direction.

I do not feel Marvel is losing the plot: Spidey still has Raimi, the X-Men have plenty of intelligent sounding spin-offs, and Iron Man has the strong Jon Favreau behind it. But this Hulk movie concerns me: already the unsurity over being a reboot/sequel or in-between sounds problematic. I hope however Bana returns: and I heard good reviews for Unleashed anyway. I just hope Hulk 2 , which it will probably be titled eventually (look, you don't have to go over the origin, just get on with the internal struggle), is decent enough not to buckle.

Hooded Man points out the need for Depth and films like Spiderman, X1, X2 and Superman Returns & Batman Begins support this. However, Box Office success is essential if we want to see additional films (has Superman Returns even recouped its $200 cost?!)

Superman only cost $200?! I've got that in my pocket now. Who wants to help make a sequel?

Only joking, fella

dont know why everybody hated the Hulk. i thought it was one of the few that marvel got right. along with the Punisher 2, Daredevil, and the spiderman movies. all 3 of the x-men movies were a joke and they dropped the ball big time. ive seen transporter 2 and unleashed..........liked them both. but using the last stand righter is a big mistake. The x-men is one of my favorite books and they destroyed it. Hulk 2 dosent need to be another x-men farce.

I think it will be great, and I'm hoping the eric banner returns as bruce banner/the hulk and I hope the leader shows up as the villian. I also hope marvel comics make a deal with someone to direct a vs film of the hulk titled the hulk vs the thing.

Don't make me Ang Lee. You wouldn't like me when I'm Ang Lee.

Daredevil was so wrong in every department. In casting, in script, in direction, in execution and placing. Nothing resonated in that film to me as a fan of the character. It was just plain bad. Punisher could have been a lot better in the hands of a more accomplished action director (Give John Woo free rein for Punisher 2(or is it 3?) X3 was promised much but delivered little but X1 and X2 were great little films, X2 being one of the best superhero films yet seen in my humble opinion.

As regards the Hulk, I think Ang Lee's original should be viewed in the same way as X-Men 1. A scene setter for the sequel. Most of the back story has been set, now they're free to go forward. I, for one, am looking forward to it.

Apparetly Bana will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner, as it in his contract from the first film to do sequels.

Nope he won't be, Ari Avd has already said he won't be involved...they want to make a fresh new start

so are they going to do like superman an unknown actor?? I think Bana was alright even if the film wasn't so special.... the CG Hulk was awsome though....  do u think they going to continue from the first one???

The first film was superb.  People are claiming on this forum that the first one was 'everything a Hulk film shouldn't be about' and more damage etc.

The Hulk is a complex and deep thinking character and Lee's vision of this was really well handled as was Banna, he encapsulated all that Banner is about.

The new director sounds like it's going to be 100 minutes of building smashing, no emotional discourse, no thanks.

I know we are powerless to see this being made but I am not looking forward to it at all.

my understanding of the "sequel" was that it was going to be more of a "remake", according to avi arad.
apparently he wasn't happy with ang lee's vision and wants to redo the origin story. if that is the case i don't see how bana can play banner again. Or how they can call it Hulk 2.

straight to video springs immediatley to mind!

This time, the Hulk will not be done with computer-generated images (or C.G.I. for short) like it was done previously in the 2003 movie "Hulk". This time, the Hulk will be portrayed by an actor in make-up and prosthetics and C.G.I. will only be used for the Hulk when necessary. Producer Avi Arad has said that the Hulk will be shorter in height "in order to get closer to the Hulk, to see the human, primal, naive part of the Hulk". He also stated that the Hulk will not be fifteen feet tall this time, as he was in the first film when he was fully enraged, because by making him that height that "there's no human connection there".

now that mavel is making its own films, does that mean they have a higher or lower budget for the films?

If Bana isn't returning, there's always Hulk Hogan.

rumour is the lead is either going to Dominic Purcell from Prison Break, or David "X-Files" Duchovny
