It just looks so… charged! That's the word that springs to mind from that spot and the trailers for me. It just seems to resonate an insane amount of energy on every level! The emotion, the visuals and now snippets of HUGE action are coming through too. That shot of what I can only guess is (SPOILERS PERHAPS) Zod's ship the Black Zero decimating land near the Kent farm looks insane.

And the shot of Lois looking over his shoulder as he's flying with her… Goosebumps!

This has so, so much potential! Fingers crossed, as from the sheer quality of what we've seen so far, a misfire on this would actually be harder to stomach than Returns was.

Was listening to the MOS steel main theme as heard in the third trailer and think its a very inspiring piece of music. Its more of an anthem than a theme really and think its used to great effect in that trailer.Really looking forward to hearing the whole thing but will wait until i see the film before i get the cd.

Really hope this film rocks as i was very disappointed in Iron man 3.

Agreed - Very inspiring.

Here's an all-round preview of the entire soundtrack which is 17 minutes long.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66IlpP3LIHE

One thing that annoys me with soundtracks is that they should be released when they are finished, as opposed to releasing in dribs and drabs. The release of this soundtrack is still over a month away.

Still, based on this overall preview Hans Zimmer seems to have created something very special. Majestic and emotive.

Sounding better and better. It does sound that the sample posted from the MoS app was genuine though, certainly hearing that around the 4 minute and 5.5 minute mark so far. Also still getting really strong Vangelis vibes from it, it's more Inception that Dark Knight from what I can hear. Really wish they would just get this released!

Does anyone know how far ahead of TDKR release the soundtrack was streamed on Empire Online? I seem to recall that being a couple of weeks in advance, and it was the first full airing of it as I recall.

Apologies, yes it does indeed. You're right in what you say about the Vangelis vibe. It portrays an unearthly quality, which is exactly what Superman is, yet at the same time with the gentle piano in there it's absolutely human.

Here's the previously posted TV spot in HD at YouTube:

I think the benefits of this film being released a year later than it should have been (it was originally scheduled for 2012) are clear to see from the quality of the post-production on this.

- And just served a double fault at break point down, apparently. Didn't expect that particular sub-plot.

I was skeptical at first, but the trailers for this film have done a great job.

The sots of him floating above the military in the new spot, silhouetted by the sun look absolutely iconic! The cape! They’ve absolutely nailed the CGI cape in this. When I first heard they’d CGI’d it, I wondered what the point was… fabric and a wind machine would do it. But the way it moves is totally majestic and really makes those iconic shots of him go to the next level.

Warners seem to be nailing the marketing on this..... keeps looking better and better, and I still dont feel that I've seen too much, and we still havent seen much of Cavill as Supes in terms of his dialogue with Lois, Jor El and Zod. In fact we've seen fuck all of Zod. Lots of new stuff getting glimpsed but it doesnt feel like they'er showing everything they have. Bravo.I dont think it can beat Iron Man 3 at the box office, but am intrigued to see how audiences take to it. Anyone caught trailer three in cinemas yet? I was gutted it didn't play in front of STID when I went the other day.

Oh, I don’t think you can. It’s only having followed news on the development of the project that I knew it was CGI. I think it’s perfectly integrated and most won’t know it’s VFX.

I don't think the cape looks like obvious CGI at all. I don't even think the majority of people will register it as CGI, just as...well, a cape!

Also, it's a real pain in the ass getting cloth to do what you want it to do. Snyder realised that in order to get those astonishingly iconic shots of Superman then they'd have to design the way the cape moved, which is impossible with a wind machine. I mean, just look at the shots of Superman. The bit in the third trailer where the doors of the Fortress of Solitude open and he walks out is, in my opinion, the greatest transferal of a superheroic image ever put on screen.

Fair play to Bryan Singer, he had a good eye for an iconic Superman pose but Snyder has really nailed the massive, billowing cape in this film (the cape in Superman Returns was too short and the material looked too plastic).

It's looking really good, the last couple of spots have been an improvement but at the same time not actually shown any kind of real dialogue between the main characters. Actually looking forward to seeing how the villains turn out. Optimism is horrible.

They are keeping it really locked down. We've still seen so little of Zod really. I'm sure they have one hell of a villain up their sleeve with Shannon… I mean, the guy is always and without fail absolutely mesmerizing to watch. If he has not crafted a classic villain here, I will be absolutely astonished.
He was just bone chilling in the You Are Not Alone viral… and we didn’t even see his face.

RE cape – yep, the level of control afforded by making it a VFX just could not have been achieved practically. Could have looked good sure but the fact that Snyder was so anal as to go that route to make it look perfect is very reassuring, with regards to having him steering this project. Guy gets a lot of stick (some justified, some not) but he certainly looks to have poured his heart into this one! Fingers crossed… it's coming up fast now.

I don't have any problem with Snyder! his films look fantastic and great non pretentious adaptations of 300 and watchmen! I will forgive for the shoddy Cgi cape! ;)

ZOD will find him! http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/417957_374723365965417_112721703_n.jpg

Snyder can only really be accused of going for style over substance in my opinion - which has only really been prevelant in Sucker Punch and possibly 300 if I were feeling overly critical. That aside however I think he pretty much reinvented the Zombie movie genre with Dawn of the Dead (yes, I know it was a remake - but the point still stands what with all the sprinting Zombies n'all) and took the 'mission impossible' of tackling the holy grail of comic books in Watchmen and basically made the best movie that he (or anyone) possibly could given the source material! Yes, 300 was a little OTT especially with all the homo-erotic imagery on show throughout, but it was still a hugely enjoyable movie and visually groundbreaking! I haven't seen his one with the Owls though.....

Man of Steel WILL be amazing people. If it is not the best comic book movie of the year I will dance a jig naked in the centre of Trafalgar Square!

I think it was restrained considering in the comic the Spartans have it all hanging out! no leather loin clothes!
also, didn't 28 days later come before his Dawn of the Dead , running zombies...

Didn't the first running zombies pop up in Night of the Living Dead in 1968?

Regardless, Snyder’s DotD remake was great fun. Not seen it in years so must give it a re-watch.

Having never seen Sucker Punch (I hear it’s real bad) I’ve never actually seen a Snyder film I didn’t enjoy… even that one with the owls is visually stunning in many places. I currently rate Watchmen as his best. Guy still has arguably the strongest opening credit sequence in recent years too for the Watchmen opening. Seriously amazing stuff that!

I wonder if they will go for a classic opening sequence for MoS or just throw us into it to save screen time.

Yeah you're both right about the running Zombies thing having been done before, I stand corrected. Nevertheless I do still think Man of Steel will be awesome - even if Snyder didn't actually re-invent a genre!

Did it! I always thought it was 28Days, I will look it up!. What are we classing as actually running?.: Yeh I enjoyed the DotD remake :) rewatched it recently. Sucker Punch is visually stunning and its got scantily clad babes in it! its all good! bollocks story!.

My guess is a pretty stunning opening sequence on Krypton? Although unsure if all the Krypton scenes will be in flashback?. .. I hope not

Technically we are both off the mark too according to this google search:

If your familar with the mainstream horror flicks like "Dawn of the Dead"(2004) and "28 Days Later".. saying they running zombies are new, WRONG!

They have existed before in early foreign horror movies that you should definitely watch! there was of course Umberto Lenzi's 1980 Horror/Sci-fi/action shocker "Nightmare City" ( a.k.a. City of the Walking Dead) which featured the first running zombies but these zombies also drove cars, have cruddy faces, and weild weapons including sucking blood like vampires.

Then there was "Lifeforce", "Return of the Living Dead trilogy", 'The Stuff" and "Zombi 3" that also had zombies that ran.

If he gets people to think in a different way about Superman (not automatically Donnor and Williams) that will be as grand an achieve I think.

Yeah you're both right about the running Zombies thing having been done before, I stand corrected. Nevertheless I do still think Man of Steel will be awesome - even if Snyder didn't actually re-invent a genre!

They drove cars? Jesus! That's going a bit far isn't it? I mean if you have a bunch of braindead, cruddy faced bloodsuckers running, driving cars and generally preying on the weak then they're not zombies anymore are they - they're Tories?

Anyway, Man of Steel........
