I haven't read any of the spoilers but can i ask the people who have, Does the film sound like it will be good?

Well, i think the spoilers are bullshit, and in all honesty the spoilers are the kind of thing most could guess crom the trailer or assume based on prior knowledge of the Superman comic/history. Spoilers that say things like 'he described every action scene as epic' and 'he uses every super power but freeze breath' don't really tell you that much. Some of the other spoilers are a bit more specific but I wouldnt say theyre anythin people couldnt guess. The breakdown also makes no mention of some of the more specific things you would expect to hear - is Jimmy Olsen in there, how does Clarke figure into the story, how does the Daily Planet feature, Perry White etc. none of that is mentioned at all. Neither is one of the rather surprising characters that appears to have been confirmed online today, that wouldve been a big scoop to break his involvement, but no mention of it. There isnt really much detail around Jor El either. If your spoiling a big Summer movie afte the first screening, wouldnt you detail some of the big Superman characters? Rather than vague comments like 'zod is very well written' and 'he's going to be one of the best screen villians of all time' and 'It feels very Nolan'?

So yea, given the type of spoilers, the lack of detail for certain major Supes characters, the fact that no other site seems to be giving it the time of day, I'll stick my neck out and say it's all bollocks. I'll be back in July to eat my shoes if It turns out true. If they are true, I'd say the movie will be a lot less interesting than I was expecting. However, as I am convinced the spoilers are bullshit, and the trailer is as good as it is, I remain optimistic that MOS will be a really solid Summer movie. It's still my second most anticipated o the ear behind Star Trek.

The whole fact that Zod even appears in this movie just leaves me cold and uninterested thus far!! It all just sounds to similiar to whats been done before and I am afraid they will do what has been done of late and just copy from previous Superman movies but try to be smart-arses about it and hope no one notices or remembers!. I just hoped a new movie would have the balls to drop Zod and but there is nothing to say there wont be another villain involved i guess.

I've been waiting for a great Superman movie for decades now! I want it to be great, I personally like Synder, I like the the casting of Cavill and I am even ok with the suit (its better than Returns).

I know it's been dropped all over the place (not least by Shannon himself!) but have we actually had official confirmation he's playing Zod? I know it looks incredibly likely but a small part of me wonders if it's misdirection and Shannon is playing another Supes villain.

A new angle on Darkseid or Brainiac maybe�. maybe��.. but maybe not�..

Not sure what people's problem with Zod is to be honest. I could understand if they'd decided to use Luthor again and quite frankly he is sh*t but Zod is a mental and more importantly physical match for Supes and probabably his most deadly adversary, not to mention they have huge\background history together. I think he is Superman's best antagonist and I for one will be VERY pleased if it is Zod.

Man of Steel has got its MPAA rating today... PG-13 for "for intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, and for some language."

To be perfectly honest I think kicking off a new series of films with a bad-guy like Brainiac/Darkseid/Doomsday would be a bad idea. I say keep those other bad-guys for later films because all the establishing stuff is out of the way then. As mentioned previously by Don_a-van there is history between Superman and Zod and that works better for this film.

If I can reference Batman Begins: Back in 2005 everyone would have loved to have seen the Joker as the villain for the first film, simply because it's frustrating having to wait a few years for the real meat in the sequel. But it's not always possible because having a villain like that in an establishing film would be of detriment to the story they are setting up. It's too much of a distraction. I'm glad that Man of Steel is starting off with Zod and the gang (if he is Zod, of course), because I'm not sure an audience would really connect with a film that kicks-off with mega villains such as those previously mentioned. We don't know how the story will shape up, but I'm sure it has been cleverly constructed to set up sequels and future villains. Make no doubt about that.

To clarify my point: I just think that a 'far out' alien villain ain't the way to go. Starting off with Zod (who looks human) is great, in my opinion. He has immense power yes, but he's a more grounded villain in a way, and that's just what this film needs. What more do you want though? We're going to see superhero fighting on a massive scale in this film!!

P.S - How is this film repeating what has been done before? - Superman 2 was made 30 years ago with dodgy effects work, so I think we can safely say, after that length of time, that this film ain't repeating nothin'. I blame the BBC for showing Superman 2 so much on Bank Holidays!

Why are people questioning Shannon is Zod!! Its pretty much certain , he has spoken about the role. I want to know who the CGi bad guy is?
I still say Brainiac would of been a more logical, interesting and relevant nemesis, Zod and Co could have come a long for part 2 or 3

Saying that and excepting that Zod it is, I think Shannon will be excellent.

From what I have seen of set pictures, Zod is Humanoid , however there is a large CGI character walking along with Zod. I assume Shannon used mo-cap for his flight and fight sequences!. I just hope they look as good as Ironman flight scenes and not shit like Harry Potter. The trailer flight sequence has me worried. Does anyone know what team are doing the CGi for this movie?

I've read a few in a my time and I'm well aware of those two but Zod is a Kryptonian who has history with Kal-El's father which I think will resonate more for the first movie. Alastair has explained it perfectly in his post but they can save Darksied and Doomday for later episodes. In fact I'd love it of Doomsday killed Superman in a future movie.

Really? I thought the taking off looked spectacular. And the fluidity in his flight in the space shot looked brilliant to me.

Think I may have started this whole is he isn't he Zod thing up again. Was just pure speculation but I'm 99% certain that's who she is. Just thought the Studio would have detailed it in the synopsis by now.

I've not seen these mo cap pictures or read any news about character reveals of late. But if there is a mo cap character with Zod (whitted for potential spoilers) I imagine they unleash Doomsday when the battle starts to favor Superman.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS

But I read that this Dev-Em survives the fall of Krypton by placing himself in suspended animation in a pod that orbits the planet. Look at the one shot of Zod in the trailer. In the bottom right of the frame we see a planet behind him. I assumed this was from Zods approach to Earth but perhaps he is aboard this pod to wake up Dev-Em and recruit him.

But the way this is shaping up, Kal-El is going to be far from the last son of Krypton. Looks like loads of the buggers get away.

But this will definitely be a better take on Krypton when it comes to Superman's coming challenges! A million times more exciting than the prospects of fronting off with an angry, bald estate agent� yet again.

Given the Smallville scenepredates MoH, I think it is very similiar and not as good. Its actually the shot of him shooting through the clouds that worries me more! Looks a bit ....wrong! his head position. The other shots while very Donnor (flying in space around earth, toward camera) look great. But hey! who knows what a super-powered flying alien should look like....

Potential Spoilers I guess..

I've never heard of Dev Em, and to be honest the only reason I'd heard of Tor An was from an in development Superman movie from years ago, I'm sure the character was merged with Lex Luthor (i.e. the undercover Kryptonian working on Earth for a large mulit-national) and fans were up in arms. I remember at the time reading online reaction (probably over at AICN) and I did some reading up on Tor An. Honestly, I had no real idea that there were so many Kryptonian villains used in the comics. Either way, if the Tor An/Dev Em rumours are true (and it certainly looks likely based on news from the Toy Fair) maybe one of these will become a CG creation during the movie? If it is Doomsday, I'll be very dissapointed as that is a storyline that really needs to be explored outside of an origins movie.

Does it bother anyone else that there is even any other Kryptonians!!? Villains or otherwise. I Always thought the last son of Krypton, should be the only survivor. I would be happy Zod and Co didn't exists! :)

At the time I didn't want to know about these spoilers and never payed closer detail to what many sound like BS. For example how or why Zod end up in the prison planet just seconds before Krypton's destruction? Why Zod is adding robotic armour to himself when set reports mention Zod is wearing a muscle suit.

Lation Review has the exclusive lists of which DC hero will be featuring in the upcoming JLA. No mention which Green lantern will be used.

Interesting to see Batman is there to lend a hand to fight against Darkseid. Does that mean Superman dragged him along and there is possible truth in the Man of Steel's Batman ending?

Took another look at the trailers and it just looks and feels EPIC.

I have a strong feeling this is going to be one of the best superhero films ever made.The cast is great, Nolan and Goyers involvement in the story and screenplay is a dead cert for high quality,and together with Snyders knack for great superhero imagery...BRING.IT.ON !

Agreed. I find it baffling that people are complaining about the look and feel of this film (some of the, ahem, 'conversation' on the SuperHeroHype forums is plain ridiculous). And you're dead right about Snyder's knack for iconic superhero imagery. He knows exactly what he's doing, and this is absolutely evident in the trailer - The shot of Superman walking away from camera, cape billowing behind him, is truly brilliant. It doesn't get any more iconic than that.

In terms of the trailer - It says something that I'm more excited by all the dramatic stuff in the first half, than the action stuff in the second half (which is presented in a bit of a mish-mash way, anyway) - The great thing about 'beginning films' is that there's this great anticipation of when the superhero will finally put on the suit and save the world and it's powerful when it eventually happens. No sequel can ever match that initial feeling, so it's important to get it right. From the evidence in the trailer I think Snyder has.

a jenny olson would not be bad thing as a female sidekick like chole made a better dynamic for clark in 'smallville'.

This should not touch all that character tease, crossover nonsense with a 100 ft pole! Leave this to be its own entity. Introducing Batman in this will basically just ruin it. It should be Superman�s story and his alone!

Agreed to be honest, Superman is iconic and he deserves his own time to shine without trying to shoehorn in some lame tie in. Beside I've had enough of Batman for a while thanks.

While I wouldn't want to see Batman appearing in MoS but maybe a set up for Clark Kent to meet Batman off screen at the end. Maybe been given an assignment to investigate the Batman sightings in Gotham. Afterall daily Planet paper sales would of rocketed with their success of their Superman's covwerage.

What is interesting there is a great teaser what Superman vs Zod battle will be like in Dark Kngiht Return part 2. Both battles were done in a very similiar style according to the chap who designed both fight sequences. There was sequences he wanted to add in DKRpt2 but couldn't do because he already did them in MoS.

The whole fact that Zod even appears in this movie just leaves me cold and uninterested thus far!! I would have agreed with you if they had included Lex Luthor who has been done to death. Zod has only appeared in one live action movie.

Does he even lift?

I think they went a bit over board with the muscle suit. His hands look huge so it doesnt look as ridiculous as it could have done. Loving the suit and the overall look of things so far.

Well the highest compliment I can give Henry Cavill is that he looks like Superman.

As a note: It's not really a muscle suit, but a very thinly sculpted suit (i.e, more like airbrushing and some vein-highlights) - The body-mass is all Cavill.
